I've only seen Predator and Predator 2 and maybe AVP, but if I recall correctly, the quick and easy way for a woman not to be killed by a Predator is to be a woman (Predator) or be pregnant (Predator 2).

As for Ripley from Aliens, she was not some "strong, independent woman" character. She was just as flawed and fucked as the rest of them. She just got lucky and correct at the right time and made it work (and the script saying so, sure doesn't hurt).
