-It's wise to "overpay a bit" for a franchise LT when you've got the perfect QB (again, the question is about finding the theoretical threshold of that payment, not overpaying "a bit")

Very much agree - if this ends up being a 1 year rental and he walks for only a 3rd round comp pick, then meh it was a little short sighted and an overpay. I just don't think thats possible. Literal worst case scenario is a tag and trade after 1 year and get the pick back.
