He is going to be dealing with it all year. Calf injuries don't just go away, not in a fast twitch sport like football, especially for a QB.

Yeah, he goes to the Panthers or wherever on a front loaded deal while the team tries to climb up while on a lot of rookie contracts. Hard to imagine an established contender would pay something like that. [Reply]

True. If the market is weaker for Higgins than he expects, it could be a chance for the Chiefs to get him. That would be very similar to Orlando Brown, who demanded insane money from KC ($24M per year) and then had to settle for a much more humble salary of $16M per year with the Bengals.
KC would have kept Orlando if he negotiated in good faith below $20M per year. Free agency was a slap in the face for him. Nobody in the league (including Cincy) believed he was worth anywhere close to $24M per year. [Reply]
