My neighbor gets a box of undesirable veggies delivered every two weeks. Perfectly fine, but really oddly shaped and other defects. They pay a premium for the service. It supposedly helps with food waste.
This poll will rank what CPers and their families think are acceptable. [Reply]
I'm not a fruit and veggie snob. I will cook almost any of them or eat them raw. Even matured into liking cantaloupe (mostly with taijin or salt).
I shop at Aldi, Costco and Hyvee so where I'm at that week will determine what I get and what it costs me. Done running all over for deals on anything but meat. If I'm there and I see it sure I'll buy it, but fuck scanning weekly ads for produce.
Brussels are a staple, will do a lot of those in the summer. Always have cucumbers and onions on hand. Pretty heavy on squash and onion and mushrooms and corn this time of year.
Fuck you Stewie for creating a thread about produce and fuck me for responding to it!!! You win this time! [Reply]

I've always opened them by the stem.
Years back I worked with a Brazilian guy who told me apes/monkeys open them from the bottom as that was the "right" way to do it. He framed it as if monkeys were smarter than people because they figured it out or some shit.
I just remember thinking: "who gives a shit either way?" [Reply]

How civilized are floppy banana skins? Don't be that floppy banana skin guy.
Pinch a seam on the side and split it down the seam. Keep the ends intact and you can use the pocket you created by splitting it down the seam to put the banana in if you don't finish it. Plus it just looks nicer than looking like it was opened by an ape. [Reply]

Never seen Durkee spices in these parts.
I like and use Lawry's Pepper Supreme that I get at my Sunfresh in a 6 oz shaker but Sam's has a 21-ounce plastic bottle for 19 bucks and some change. Seems like the same thing except theirs is a 7 pepper. [Reply]

Basically you have made a banana boat. Are you on a raft in your pool having them floated out to you? [Reply]
