Nzoner's Game Room>Wentz traded to the Colts
staylor26 10:48 AM 02-18-2021

Philadelphia has agreed to trade Carson Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for a 2021 third-round pick and a conditional 2022 second-round pick that could turn into a first, league sources tell @mortreport and me.

The conditional second-rounder in 2022 becomes a first-rounder if Wentz plays 75 percent of the snaps or 70 percent and the team makes the playoffs. https://t.co/quAYwcz7bd

Yep. Use Wentz as a stop gap.

I think he's probably done, but the Colts had to try something.

Kinda goes to show that franchise QB's don't just grow on trees.

A third and conditional 2nd rounder? The Colts got a steal. If he is fixed the Colts will have a top tier QB for at worst what will be a late first round pick. If not they lose a late second round pick. I see no issues with this.

A 3rd and at least a 2nd for a $20 million QB that they Eagles don’t want. That sounds like a really good deal for Philly.

Add this to the OP: https://twitter.com/mikegarafolo/sta...041030150?s=21

If Carson Wentz’s playtime is at or above 75% next season, the conditional 2022 second-round pick would become a first-round pick, per sources. The second-round pick also.could become a first if Wentz plays at least 70 percent of the plays and the Colts go to the playoffs.

Basically unless they bench Wentz or he gets hurt early in the season, it will become a 1st rounder.

That’s a lot to give unless he ends up being good again.

Major if.

Ballard and Reich taking a ballsy risk here.
Not much risk, the draft compensation isn't large and they have the cap space.

Good move by the Colts considering LA gave up half their franchise for Matt Stafford. This move won't set Indy back much if Wentz is a bust.

A North Dakota country boy will fit in better in Indiana than Philadelphia IMO.

It’s basically a 2022 1st and a 2021 3rd rounder. Very similar to what we gave up to draft Mahomes AND they have to pay him a lot.

It’s risky. But Indy had boatloads of cap space and reason to believe they can fix him.

Not saying it’s likely, just that Wentz had his short run of excellent play with Reich in Philly, so if there’s anyone who could possibly fix him it’s probably Reich.

That’s a good trade for Indy because of the conditional dynamics with the draft picks they are trading.
