Patteeu Memorial Political Forum>Reaching ‘Herd Immunity’ Is Unlikely in the U.S., Experts Now Believe

Early in the pandemic, when vaccines for the coronavirus were still just a glimmer on the horizon, the term “herd immunity” came to signify the endgame: the point when enough Americans would be protected from the virus so we could be rid of the pathogen and reclaim our lives.

Now, more than half of adults in the United States have been inoculated with at least one dose of a vaccine. But daily vaccination rates are slipping, and there is widespread consensus among scientists and public health experts that the herd immunity threshold is not attainable — at least not in the foreseeable future, and perhaps not ever.

How much smaller is uncertain and depends in part on how much of the nation, and the world, becomes vaccinated and how the coronavirus evolves. It is already clear, however, that the virus is changing too quickly, new variants are spreading too easily and vaccination is proceeding too slowly for herd immunity to be within reach anytime soon.

Thanks facebook and the anti vax trash of America.

Do you have a list of these different pronouncements by day and how they are different? I think that would be helpful in making your point.

Measures must be taken until the risk of death from contagion is eliminated.

This is the logic implicit with the directives handed down by the public health authorities since last year.

Well, for myself, I listen to what makes sense to me. Which is really the same since this thing started. If I wish to patronize a business that requires me to wear a mask, then I will wear it.

Otherwise, I won't. Other than relatively rare occasions, like the promenade section of the local mall, for example, I don't ever wear a mask outside.

Or, you could just look at the numbers yourself, and make up your own mind.

Again, I'm currently sitting in a restaurant without a mask. It's amazing how oppressive this perpetual-lockdown/mask-mandate thing really is.

I live in a fairly liberal town. Zero people in here are wearing masks at their tables. I'm not sure anyone buys your fearful view of reality.

My fearful view? This isn't the end for me and i'm quite happy. I'm aware most don't buy the severity of GOD but that was scheduled to occur...just as it was in the days of Noah.
