Nzoner's Game Room>Chiefs Trade for OT Orlando Brown
Dante84 01:00 PM 04-23-2021
developing.

The #Ravens are trading LT Orlando Brown to the #Chiefs, per me and @MikeGarafolo. A new blindside protector for Patrick Mahomes.

I think it's still too early to realistically assess. Think Brown is a guy that plays more like a Pro Bowler come December.

You’d like to hope he learned from the price they paid for Clark and the extension that price necessarily entailed.

I mean, $17 million next season isn't exactly chump change, but yeah - it's manageable if he doesn't come to the table with a reasonable long-term outline or establish himself as a bona-fide top of the market player.

Perhaps just as critically is it would give them another season to see if Niang can then move over to LT and they could back-fill with a Remmers sort of reasonably priced veteran over at RT.

It wouldn't be ideal, but if extra attention needs be paid to the defense, that may be where cap space could be found to do it.

The issue is, unless you can do it with Niang, to get a LT to play day 1, you're probably looking at a first rounder or a reclamation type dude.

And even most mid/late 1st rounders can't do it on day 1.

If it's not Niang...well honestly, it needs to be Niang or you're kinda forced to bring back Brown. The 1st rounder absolutely has to go to the defense this year and you can't put a rookie LT out there if you draft one in 2023.

Bottom line is that Niang has any physical tool you could want for a LT. There's no reason he can't do it apart from reps.

If you don't re-sign Brown, I think you just have to give Niang a year over there and make it work.

Wtf explain how he is struggling? That sack was on Mahomes and the interior guy getting pressure. He went way around to get to him. If Mahomes steps up to the left he has all day.

Gotta be honest here. LT is a priority need for us. This guy needs to be moved to RT when he signs back with Baltimore in the offseason. He just doesn’t have the feet/hips to handle the kind of pass rushers he sees at LT.

I’d call Eric Fisher this Spring. 1.5 years out from surgery should be good for his health. He’s only 31 at that point

Your options are limited
