K.C. CHIEFS' FRANK CLARK
ARRESTED
... Cops Say NFL Star Had Uzi In Lambo SUV

Law enforcement sources tell us Clark was pulled over for a routine traffic stop Sunday evening in Los Angeles ... when cops say they noticed an open duffle bag in his ride.
Our sources say officers saw the gun inside the bag ... and arrested the 28-year-old for felony illegal possession of a firearm.
The Kansas City Chiefs superstar is still behind bars in the Los Angeles area, jail records show.
According to the records, Clark -- listed at 6'3", 255 pounds -- was arrested at 9:20 p.m. ... and was booked into jail hours later at 9:28 a.m. Monday.
We've reached out to Clark and the Chiefs for comment ... but so far, no word back yet.
Clark was a key piece in the Chiefs' runs to the Super Bowls the last two years ... after being traded from Seattle to Kansas City before the 2019 season, Clark logged 14 sacks in 26 starts and was great in postseason play too.
In fact, Clark was so good for the Chiefs since joining the team ... he was selected to the Pro Bowl in each of his 2 seasons on the squad.
Of course, this is not Clark's first brush with legal trouble ... you'll recall, he was arrested in 2014 after being accused of domestic violence -- and was kicked off the Univ. of Michigan football team over it all.
Clark eventually struck a deal with prosecutors in that case, agreeing to plead guilty to a lesser charge of misdemeanor disorderly conduct.
Clark is currently in the middle of a 5-year, $104 MILLION contract with the Chiefs.

I wonder if Frank was slightly off camera brandishing a gun. Did Andy look nervous? [Reply]
after listening, makes me wonder if his second arrest motivated the prosecutor to charge a felony on the first gun charge even though the first offense was a "wobbler" [Reply]
I think the tv news report I saw on a recent court date said that Frank Clark was not the only one charged with the March offense. If the security person was charged also, that should be reported more than it is.
Seems like the guest on the radio show does not know that the other guy may have been charged also.
The guest is also mistaken that the NFL policy says Exempt list for any felony. Exempt list is used for suspected crimes involving violence or sexual assault. Illegal firearm possession is subject to personal conduct policy, but not necessarily would it be something that would be punished while case is pending. [Reply]

Every NFL analyst I have heard has said that Frank could end up on the Commissioners exempt list at any time. It is completely up to Goodell's discretion. [Reply]

I don’t doubt that it’s a possibility, but I also don’t think it actually happens considering this is a victimless crime and Goodell has kind of chilled out the last few years. [Reply]

Does William Hill sportsbook have odds on it?
I doubt that this is an exempt list case. There is no person mistreated and the alleged offense is not even a crime in most of the states where the NFL has teams.
I am sure NFL legal is also concerned about an argument that LA cops are making pretextual traffic stops knowing the car is expensive and owned by a black athlete who plays for a team in the same division as the team from the city where the cops work.
Do you have examples of exempt list for something where no identifiable person mistreated and no driving intoxicated? [Reply]

This is a violation of the personal conduct policy is what I remember them all talking about.
Get out of here with that NFL divisional rival stuff. That is ludicrous. Getting a felony charge for an assault weapon and then getting another arrest for a similar if not worse type of gun to be in possession of in that state. [Reply]

Not every violation of personal conduct policy is a commissioner exempt list case.
Clark will not be put on exempt list. He will not be disciplined under personal conduct policy until cases are resolved. Nobody called the police on him.
Sherman actually made people fearful and the police were called and his case may not even be exempt list. He even is facing a dui involved single car accident and it probably is not an exempt list case.
I was kidding about the idea that LA cops are Chargers fans, but I bet the NFL investigation will ask whether or not the traffic stops were pretextual. [Reply]
A stock Uzi weighs just over 7 lbs., and fires the ubiquitous 9mm Luger round, which exerts a measured 5.7 lbs. of recoil energy, or less than the weight of the firearm. It should exhibit almost no muzzle rise even when firing full auto.
A MAC-10/11 however, due to its short length, high bore axis, etc. was well-known for muzzle rise. [Reply]
