Nzoner's Game Room>Chiefs sign Raiders former 1st Round CB Damon Arnette [now cut]
Dante84 03:38 PM 01-20-2022
And now he gone.

The #Chiefs immediately released CB Damon Arnette after his arrest Friday night in Las Vegas for assault with a deadly weapon, per source.

...to a futures deal.

And of course we'll catch hell for a high-character signing.

The Chiefs have signed former Raiders first round CB Damon Arnette to a Reserve/Futures contract.

He sucked. On its surface this seems very much a high risk, low upside addition.

But, we've seen the Chiefs turn shit into salad so you never know.

High risk? He was a street FA.

A futures contract is "high risk?" Since when?

High risk as in the player himself is a high character risk. Not that the Chiefs are at risk of losing money or something.

What does that mean? What actual "risk" is there for the Chiefs here?

Unconfirmed for now but sounds like he was arrested for pulling a gun on a hotel worker.

Yep, hearing he pulled a gun on a hotel valet.

But he didn't kick a hooker in the hotel so I don't see the big deal :-)

Before we jump to conclusions we need to be aware that maybe the valet deserved it.

Well, he's literally a terrible P.R. move. If he goes bonkers at a nightclub in KC, it's a bad look.

Unlike a lot of people, I'm on board with giving people a second chance; I never did anything as crazy as the shit this kid pulled, but let's just say I'm sure glad social media didn't exist when I was in my 20's. Or that TMZ wasn't following me around...ummm...maybe even in my 40's.

anyway, I never hurt anybody...except myself.

But I'm not crazy about the signing just because I don't think the kid has had enough of a wake-up call to possibly be ready to be a dependable citizen.

They can't all be choirboys, but man, I don't know. I just hope he IS ready to turn over a new leaf, or that if he's not, we cut him out quick because he seems like a disaster waiting to happen.

Probably a best case scenario.

He was either going to shoot someone someday or get torched badly enough to lose us a couple games.

Either way, him being in this organization was only ever going to end badly so at least we got it knocked out quickly.

What a bizarre move.

They had CB Josh Jackson on the taxi squad for about 3 months until they cut him on January 19. Was hoping they add him as a futures signing and if he doesn’t show progress at CB try him at safety this offseason. Talented and a willing special teams player. He was elevated for a game or two for special teams. Don’t think he played much on D
