Exactly. Got mine scheduled Friday

Will this virus just keep mutating for a long time? Will there be a point it just stays put?

I got a Pfizer booster today, original was J&J. I felt the Pfizer injection less than the J&J, didn't feel the poke and just a little pressure from the vaccine. Other than some arm soreness things are fine.

It'll keep going. It's the natural evolutionary process.

I also can fairly confidently say Omicron has been here for a couple months.

Considering how far it has spread, yeah.

I'd guess it started somewhere in Europe and was first found in SA.

May have started here, who knows.

Anybody scared of the new variant? Everything I have heard to date is that although it may spread a bit easier it is far less virulent. If true, it’s getting closer and closer to an everyday common cold

So would this then be the dominant strain and over take delta? Or is that tbd

I'm certainly not scared. Waiting for data before I feel anything either way. Easier to spread and less severe sounds like a winner to me, as long as it leaves you with some immunity to the other variants.

I’m starting a separate thread to walk through some examples of sequencing data that suggests that Omicron has been circulating globally for a while. I’ll start with Italy, because that’s where I first noticed this pattern. /1 https://t.co/a7zZzxrr1l

I haven't come accross this guy much, but he has a pretty good genomic breakdown.

I'm not sure about your question though.

I generally detest Twitter, but that was a good read. Thanks.

If it spreads easier than it's pretty likely to end up dominant. Which isn't to say delta completely disappears.

I'm not out there reading every last story, but I haven't really seen anything that conclusive on whether it's really less deadly or not. Seems like that is probably still in the TBD category.

PRELIMINARY DATA but good news for your afternoon! Pfizer vaccine’s is only SLIGHTLY less effective in preventing infection with Omicron than with Delta- 90% as opposed to 95%- while it is AS EFFECTIVE in preventing serious symptoms- around 93% – at least for those boosted!
