Chiefs’ QB Patrick Mahomes will undergo an MRI on Sunday to gain further clarity on the ankle injury he suffered during Saturday‘a Divisional Playoff win over the Jaguars, per source. Initial X-rays on Mahomes’ ankle were negative.
UPDATE 3: Courtesy of King - High Ankle Sprain Confirmed
MRI today confirmed that Chiefs’ QB Patrick Mahomes suffered a high ankle sprain during Saturday’s win over the Jaguars, per league source. “Nothing more than that,” said one source, and Mahomes has said he plans to play in next Sunday’s AFC Championship Game.
I believe he'll be ready for next week. I'm just choosing to believe he only suffered a mild sprain. He has shown the ability to heal and recover quickly in the past.
He definitely won't be 100% though, and that's a bummer. His ability to scramble and run for first downs is obviously importart. He can still get it done and I wouldn't bet against him. [Reply]

Mahomes said he was fine after the game and felt better than he expected to. He said he’ll be ready for next week.
Obviously, he isnt going to say anything is wrong, but he sounded pretty confident.
That was a wicked ankle twist. Lots of articular cartilages and ligaments. Good idea to know what exactly they’re dealing with. Being cautious is the correct thing. [Reply]

And he wanted to play immediately after the kneecap injury. Coaches & doctors forced him to sit out 2.5 games. [Reply]
