For all things Royals in 2022. #3 minor league system according to Baseball America. The Bobby Witt era should begin this year. Will Salvy still be the homerun king? How does the glut of infield players work out? Will the young pitchers take the next step?

22 yrs old in A+ and showing some contact issues.

Probably wanna get him to AA pretty quickly to get him exposed to advanced pitching so you can start him there next season and really see what you have. Would probably help to get him 50+ PAs in Arkansas this year; gotta be aggressive sometimes w/ college prospects or the next thing you know he'll be 25 in AAA and you're still not sure if he can stay back on a major league off-speed pitch.

He sounds like a backup catcher to me?
Maybe a good trade piece in a trade?

Singer was 23 when he was called up and had 26 minor league starts.

Lynch and Kowar were 24 when they made their debut and if not for COVID, they may have been called up in 2020 depending on how they did in the minors.
I just think our coaches at the mlb level need to go. Hypothetically if we traded lacy. He would get a cy young elsewhere, is our luck. That is how bad our coaches seem to be in the bigs.

Here comes Nick Loftin. One step away now. Gavin Cross moved up from rookie ball too.

One Royals minor league updates:

—Nick Loftin has been promoted to Triple-A Omaha
—Diego Hernandez to Double-A Northwest Arkansas
—Luca Tresh to Double-A Northwest Arkansas
—Gavin Cross to Low-A Columbia

I guess Tresh won’t be in the game tonight.

You could still trade ceiling for floor with him. If I’m the Cards I’d consider an Alec Willis for Lacy deal. But I’d be surprised if you could pry a top 10 prospect from anyone or a top 100 overall sort of kid.

He’s just sooooo messed up right now.

Context is key if you're going to bag on talent evaluators.

They reached for Mozzicato so they could draft Kudrna and sign both of them. It's the same type of draft approach that led to Dozier/Manaea.

The money they saved on Mozzicato went directly to Kudrna.

So yes, they drafted someone at 7 that was a reach, but it wasn't because they thought he was the best player available. It was because he was the best player they could get there (in the Royals' evaluation) who would save them enough to get Kudrna drafted and signed.

If it were me? I would not draft a college pitcher who had shown extreme control problems except for his most recent season (and that being a season that was shortened like 2020). I would not draft a HS pitcher from freaking New England at #7 overall so I could go draft another HS pitcher and pay him overslot.
