So there's an article on NFL network saying that Orlando Brown is expected to sign for 6 years $145 mil.
That comes to $24.16 mil/yr and makes him the highest paid offensive lineman in football. It also would give him the 19th highest salary per year in the NFL
How would you feel if that is the contract he ended up signing?
I'm fine with it. He is a top 5 LT and he's only 26 next season. A young great LT is a guy you can't let leave. [Reply]
I don't know if this is in here or not, too much megathread to sort through. So I'll share what I read in an article on Arrowhead Pride.
Basically, the Chiefs have 5 options if he holds out.
1. Slide over Thuney, play Allegretti at LG
2. Lucas Niang, assuming he's healthy.
3. Geron Christian
4. Darian Kenard
5. Re-sign Fisher.
I honestly don't know if any of those are good options, but my opinion would be option 1 would probably provide the best protection for Mahomes. If Fisher has recovered from his injury and is capable of playing close to his pre injury level, that would be better. But he's still a free agent, so I'm guessing that he may be done. Niang should be the obvious answer, but I don't see him being ready week 1. I know nothing about Christian. Is he serviceable? And Kenard is a late round rookie. He likely isn't ready. [Reply]

That's not exactly what I meant. The tweet from a few posts earlier (post 1414) said out of the 4 players that are tagged, the Chiefs and OBJ's side were talking today. [Reply]

Ahhhh, gotcha. Well he promised his old man he would be a LT. He did that. Now he needs to be reasonable with his demands. I am fine with him asking for big money, just not top LT in the league money. [Reply]

We might be reaching the 'exigent circumstances' stage of our program here.
If you can't get a guy to be sensible at the table because of circumstances that have nothing to do with anything you can control - you just get up from the table.
This is, in my experience, the only time I've seen facilitated mediations actually prove semi-useful. SOMETIMES a 3rd party telling a person they're being unreasonable can help.
But that is kinda supposed to be OBJ's agent and it sure wouldn't see that he has much interest in doing that right now.
And if that's the case - all you can do is shrug your shoulders and walk away. Hope he signs the tender and if not it's on to plan C. [Reply]
oops. Must be another family member that he is consulting with...I remember reading that somewhere. my bad though lol
I mentioned it earlier - I read something about his relationship with his mom and how she was his advisor before he hired an agent. At a point he was trying to team up with mom to get a deal done, IIRC.
(I honestly thought you were being clever though - you should've stuck with that) [Reply]
Leveon made a post on social media today admitting he'd fucked up massively in 2018 by holding out. His greatest regret , in fact. Hopefully Brown takes heed of that and doesn't fuck both the Chiefs and himself over. [Reply]
Call me crazy, but I don't think a shared diabetes diagnosis is a really good reason to hire a first time agent to negotiate the largest contract of your life. [Reply]

Yeah, that suggests a questionable decision making process. [Reply]

He could have been loved in Pittsburgh forever. Now he's just a nobody to every team. [Reply]
