Is Ohio State this good, or are the Spartans just frauds??
Truth probably lies somewhere in the middle.
I'd say CJ Stroud is better now than he was to begin the season. Sure, he put up some solid numbers early but he's still a redshirt Freshman that had no experience and wasn't reading things as well. If he plays like he has the last 2 weeks, there's not a team in the country shutting down that offense.
And really, it's the defense that is OSU's major issue. The defense has struggled mightily all year against some less-than-stellar offenses but every few games they step up with a good performance. I think that's probably the biggest reason nobody want's to see OSU in the playoff - if that defense gets hot they aren't losing. [Reply]

Bama is the only consistently great team in the SEC, much like Ohio State is the only consistently great team in the B1G.
Honestly, Georgia is kind of having a rare season for them. Much like Michigan and Wisconsin in the B1G, they're usually good but not good enough to win it all.
It's not a conference thing, it's that there are a handful of really good recruiting schools and the rest put out a decent product every once in a while.
Looking at the CFB playoff standings....
Alabama, 8-3
Ohio State, 3-3 (including being shutout 31-0 against Clemson and 52-24 against Alabama)
LSU, 2-0
Georgia, 1-1
Michigan State, 0-1 (38-0 to Alabama)
....I would say we shouldn't be comparing the SEC to B1G at all and that saying the B1G has one great team is a stretch compared to the SEC's success.
Preseason polls and the overreaction that happens in the first few weeks is a problem for the SEC and B12, etc as well (ISU was "top 10" and Baylor beat them when they were 14, so then Baylor ended up in the top 15... but, what if we pretended ISU was never "top 10"?), but I would argue the B1G should have lost the benefit of the doubt years ago while the SEC still deserves some.
Like I said though, I'm not sure who you replace in some of those spots this year... CFB has broken records for the number of top 25 losses and top 10 losses this season. [Reply]
