Ravens fans have been bitching about the Ravens' social media people all offseason apparently. They keep showing Lamar overthrowing receivers which is his biggest problem. It isn't making them feel super optimistic [Reply]
Lamar's arm is fine. He's not that bad of a deep ball thrower. The problem for him is he won't throw the damn ball outside the hashes. It's like he turtles up into Alex Smith. Because he knows it's a glaring weakness of his.
Unfortunately for him if he wants teams to respect him as a passer, he's going to have to learn how to make that throw consistently, and not just from a clean pocket, either. He's got to be able to do it under pressure and/or if it's a tight window.
Michael Vick could make that throw effortlessly, even pre-Andy Reid. It might not have always been accurate, but he would at least challenge teams to those spots, which would help open up the rest of the field.
Marcellus Wiley can bash Greg Roman all he wants to, but it won't change the fact that there's a vital throw in any QB's arsenal that Lamar simply doesn't have. That's a big problem that will likely prevent the Ravens from winning a Super Bowl. Sure, maybe he can Trent Dilfer his way to a SB for the Ravens if his defense is good enough, but even Trent Dilfer could make that hashline throw. [Reply]

I will give Baltimore credit for trying to add wide receivers for Lamar to throw to.
