I believe Toney only has 2 years left. This one and the next.
As a first round pick I believe we also have a fifth year option on him, but I could be wrong. Of course the fifth year isn’t dirt cheap, but if we wanted to keep him (provided he pans out) I believe we can keep him two seasons after this one if we want. [Reply]

He was a first rounder though, so I believe we have his 5th year option as well. That will be a bit pricey if we use it but still technically a year of control if we want it. [Reply]

There's also the franchise tag beyond that, if needed/wanted.
Both would require him showing he can stay healthy over the course of this year/next year.
This year: They'll pick up the fifth year option
Next year: They'll look at the franchise tag or an extension
If he can stay relatively healthy for two seasons in the Chiefs' system/care program (say, he plays a total of 29 regular season games), that makes him a much safer bet moving forward and potentially worth an extension. [Reply]

I think the chances of him playing 29 regular season games is almost impossible lol. There have been some reports of him missing the first 4 games. That only gives him 1 game where he can miss. If they could get him to not miss anymore, then I'd consider it a borderline miracle and then we can nominate the training staff for sainthood. [Reply]

Pssst.
Decision is picking up his 5th year option for 2025.
