Interestingly, these two playoff games are what assholes who loved the BCS would use as arguments for why a playoff was a bad idea.
"That team isn't as good as you think they are. They'd just get trounced by the #1 or #2 team in the country anyway. We're better off seeing them compete in more fitting matchups in a bowl game than a playoff where the talent disparity would be on display."
But in any case, I think we can safely put to bed the notion that the playoff should be expanded past 4 teams.
