If Lopez continues to be serviceable to good at the plate, keep a solid OBP and play great defense, it will be interesting to see if they have Mondesi play a little OF during his rehab assignment. Expecting him to hit the IL at some point this season (not a risky bet), I've maintained/hoped they would use the rehab time to start the transition. [Reply]
After taking 3 out of 4 from the Jays, the Royals start the week with the BEST record in the American League. It’s early, but this is fun! Big early season series against the defending AL Champs coming up next . . . . . [Reply]
Whit Merrifield tells Cody and Gold on @610SportsKC that the postgame-celebration championship belt was ordered by Andrew Benintendi and it has arrived. #Royals@codybtapp@AlexGold
Weird factoid in the super early Boston/Chicago game today. White Sox new DH Yermin Mercedes just got brought in to pitch the 7th. He has never played a position in the field before today, so his first defensive appearance as an MLB player is at pitcher. That's going to be a trivia question one day. [Reply]
As I was listening to the post-game shoe on the radio yesterday, I found it amazing that a few callers were discussing paths to the playoffs :-). Excitement is good, but should be mixed with 2 parts reality.
Can Dozier, Soler, and Benintendi recapture past glimpses of "goodness"? Can Mondesi play 130 games and hit .280? Will Witt come up and contribute? Will the rotation by mid-july have 1-2 guys that aren't even in KC yet? If a few of these are "yes", then we will be talking playoffs. [Reply]

They are winning without those, so why are they necessary to continue winning?
Depth may be an issue as the summer goes on, but that also hasn't been an issue yet. [Reply]
