You think a low BABIP against is entirely a product of luck in baseball? Seems like an odd position to take. [Reply]
2023 Genesis Cabrera as a Cardinal: 10.69 K9, 5.06 BB9, 1.69 HR9, 5.06 ERA, 5.02 FIP, 4.37 xFIP
2023 Genesis Cabrera as a Jay: 7.30 K9, 1.46 BB9, 0.00 HR9, 0.00 ERA, 2.37 FIP, 4.37 xFIP
Now it might all just be such a small sample size as to mean nothing in the end, but he's definitely throwing more strikes now than he ever has and that may be a direct result of the Jays changing his pitch mix (to throw more sinkers). [Reply]
And it makes sense - he'd already been called up for Baltimore even though he didn't pitch for them. So the option year was already used; might as well have him ride the shuttle a bit and see what he has.
But he'll get to shake the 'Phantom Player' label -- guys that technically made the big leagues but never saw the field.
I haven't seen anything to suggest he's legit, really. Stuff is okay, but he must hide it pretty well. That Norfolk Tides squad he locked up last time out is legit; probably the best minor league team around.
Can't hurt to see what he can do, though my expectations are pretty subdued. I'd also like to see Kloff get a shot but I'm not sure if he's on the 40 or if he'd need to be added to be protected from the Rule 5. For him, protecting the option year may be more important than anything. No sense in torching an option in a lost season, especially for a guy who may end up more of a reliever that goes up and down for a few seasons. [Reply]

Certainly don't have anything to lose. Hope he does really well. [Reply]
I'm going to the game tomorrow at Pittsburgh so I get to see Rom up close. This will probably be the last Cardinals game I see in person this year so for my sake, hope they win tomorrow and lose the rest of the year to put pressure on the front office and also get a better draft pick. [Reply]
This warms my heart. On hall of fame day. All red coasters in attendance. Ceremonies etc. the fans sent their feelings to Dewitt and Mo. wonder if they will listen?
I think part of it is the team's sucky performance, the other part of it was the heat. Hundred degree day with 115 heat index in St. Louis today. [Reply]

Yeah, fuck those guys.
I ain’t sweating my nuggets off for 20 minutes of watching great players stand around and perspire, then watch 9 innings of losing coached baseball.
They can blow that out their ass.
