Clearly there's a difference of opinion on the matter. So my way isn't wrong, and neither is yours.

Fuck it, I like my way. It's the best damn French dip I've ever had.

And a little tip I learned on Food Network from Alex Guarnaschelli: Lightly salt the outside of the bread before grilling. The bread is the first thing to touch your tongue, so lightly salting amps up the flavor of everything.
