Self does this every year. He puts players he believes in in these spots in non-con and even some conference days to prepare them for big moments in March.

I've almost never ever seen us use a guy that isn't ready over a guy that is. Self does not believe and has never believed in using a player that is a high ceiling to get him ready for later in the year. He wants to win every minute, every second, always.
