Nzoner's Game Room>Orlando Brown Projected Contract 6 year $145 mil
dlphg9 08:17 PM 03-28-2022
So there's an article on NFL network saying that Orlando Brown is expected to sign for 6 years $145 mil.

That comes to $24.16 mil/yr and makes him the highest paid offensive lineman in football. It also would give him the 19th highest salary per year in the NFL

How would you feel if that is the contract he ended up signing?

I'm fine with it. He is a top 5 LT and he's only 26 next season. A young great LT is a guy you can't let leave.

And the agent he hires will be working on his first NFL contract with zero previous experience?

Strange.
Chosing someone to deal NFL contracts with no experience must've rubbed off in Baltimore, because Lamar Jackson's Mama is his agent.

It gets worse.

Look at McKinnon too. Probably could've had a TD there as well.

Ugh. I remember now.

He's gotta rip that. With his arm, an accurate pass there has basically zero potential to turn into an INT.

On a lesser note, looked like Pringle was coming open in the back of the end zone. He could have done one of those soft lobs and just let him run under it.

What a shame.

That's how you know he just choked and forgot how to play football.

Look at him stare Hardman down and pat the football. That's a route that needs to be decided immediately. You've got about 1 second post-snap to throw it or it just won't ever be there. Pat watching him run allllllll the way to the boundary lol never even made any effort to look elsewhere.

And yeah we were figured out. Bengals proved that in the 2nd half of the championship game.

Also yeah you have Tyreek on a huge contract and Juju for one year while your defense is total shit bc you don’t have picks to get a player. You also don’t have Kinnard as a possible RT.

Sounds like off brand 2018 at best
Whatever a team takes away opens up something else like short routes backs out the backfield and the run. Chiefs didn't adjust to their adjustment! If they run the ball super bowl here we come.

Becuase this is an either/or situation.

There's a very simple answer to what happened in the 2nd half. The best player in the world played like a backup level QB for the entire 2nd half. That has nothing to do with Andy's playcalling or being "figured out"
So your QB is struggling massively. He throws a terrible pick To put the opponent back in the game. Then on our last drive at the end of regulation Patrick completely ****ed himself Inside the 5 yard line by ad libing and taking a 5 yard sack, then on the next play he proceeds to **** himself again the exact same Way on a 15 yard sack except he fumbled the ball and nearly loses the game.

Even after all that we still have a shot in OT and Andy rolls out with three straight passes? That is so on brand for Andy and so ridiculous for anybody to try to defend it for one second.

Help your struggling QB. At least one run. Hell one screen FFS. He went with all passes 3 times in a row and look at what happened?

And you know what The best part about that is? The Bengals knew Andy was going to do that. They 100% knew Andy was going to go full Reidtard

Leverage - OBJ
+ The cap is going up
+ The Chiefs have cap space
+ The Chiefs need to protect the most important player in the NFL
+ It is post-Draft
+ It is late FA
+ Any trade for a capable replacement would cost the Chiefs heavily in future picks because it is post-draft and other teams have already figured out their cap situations for this year, meaning the climate is not favorable for a buyer.
+ Any trade of OBJ would require the receiving team to meet his (very high) salary requirements, and so the return would not be great, and since it is post-draft, the benefits would not kick in until 2023. This means the climate is not favorable for a seller, either.

Leverage - Chiefs
+ OBJ is under team control and will not get paid unless/until he signs a deal or his franchise tag.
+ OBJ will still be under team control in 2023 and will not get paid unless/until he signs a deal or his franchise tag.
+ Should he get tagged/traded, he cannot choose his destination.
+ If he doesn't play well, should he play at all, the Chiefs (or any other team) would not pay top dollar.
+ If he gets hurt without a long-term deal, his future guarantees are non-existent.

It benefits both sides to find a deal that makes sense. It does seem that OBJ has heavier short-term leverage due to the timing of all of this, but I think they'll ultimately meet in the middle at $24M/year for 5 years.

Cur your losses. The fact you used a 1st round pick on the guy makes no difference. It is a sunk cost. Do not compound the mistake by paying him way way over value.

Yeah, Andy should have done what he did. He got guys open.

Stop asking him to treat your half billion dollar QB like a fucking rookie.

Screens when the whole team is dropping seem like that's just a recipe for disaster, but sure.

Look at the clip staylor posted. Mahomes literally never came off Tyreek.

He never looked at Hardman.

He's looking at Tyreek coming out to the back pylon and he just never got there.

Incorrect. Mahomes moving around mitigates the need for an elite line, at least somewhat. He also loves moving to his right more than anything to open up windows down field. Additionally Brown is not an athletic LT who improvises well when the pocket breaks down and does not have a great ability to block downfield after the planned routes are exhausted.

I can't think of a good LT who is actually a worse fit for the Chiefs and Mahomes than Brown.

Mahomes screwed up. But if you hesitate for a millisecond, that becomes a very dangerous throw that could easily go the other way. It's not like Hardman was wide open for seconds.
