I saw it last night. I really enjoyed it. As in any Taika Waititi film there’s lots of silly/funny moments.
If you don’t cynically pick it apart and just enjoy being entertained you’re gonna have a good time. It’s a movie about space Vikings who can interstellar travel on rainbows, it’s not a Markus Zusak novel.
Spoiler!
I was disappointed that Gorr was portrayed much, much weaker than his comic version.
The love triangle between Thor, Mjolnir and Storm Breaker was fun. Really helped ease the will they/won’t they tension between Jane and Thor.
Satisfying redemption arc for Thor.
Natalie Portman still looks amazing.
2 post credit scenes so you’re gonna have to hold your pee a long time.
A hodgepodge of different movies together in one.
Worth seeing for fans.
Spoilers below.
I thought Chris Pratt phoned it in with their limited role.
The switching between serious and comedy was distracting.
Loved the gods. My god Russel Crowe is out of shape now. Hopefully the next event plays the big cosmic gods coming after earth for their interference. Maybe convince Galactus our way.
I liked how thor turned Jane into mighty Thor.
As good as gorr was. Should have added muscle to him after obtaining the necrosword.
How the fuck is Dr strange so violent, but most of the killing here covered up. [Reply]
Saw it last night. First half of goofy, surfer dude bro Thor got old quick. Bale as Gorr was great. Movie pulled itself together in the second half but even then the end fight had a bit too much Ewoks vs. Empire for Return of the Jedi influence.
Anyone else notice the "Cocktails & Dreams" sign on the boat? [Reply]
I enjoyed the movie in the moment, but I think it was more of a disappointment in the way they tried to carbon copy the formula for Ragnarok. I was hoping for a LOT more. Christian Bale needed way, way more screen time. [Reply]
Now granted, The Drinker hasn't been a huge fan of Marvel's since the Endgame days, but sadly he's not wrong here with Love and Thunder (spoiler alert in vid)
I haven't hated a movie that much in a looong time. The first 75% of the movie is just a bunch of dumb bits that may or may not tie-in to the horrible plot.
I wanted to walk out during the Zeus scene but my girlfriend wanted to ride it out. [Reply]
