Anyone got any tips on how they do their research on what to invest into. Crypto has been easier for me to figure out than the stock market because it's the wild wild west over there. I don't know what to really dig into and what not to other than the blue chippers like TESLA GOG and AMZN. [Reply]
My brother has a lot of money invested with Edward Jones . He's now 65 so I realize they want it to be conservative but his account has gained 39% over the last 5 years. TOTAL!

Just FYI
Those firms seem to do a good job of mailing your money down to nothing with poor investments and high fees. I keep wanting to find a good reason to use a financial advisor, but I always walk away shaking my head. Has your brother looked into Robo-advisors or just target date funds as an alternative to professional management? [Reply]

He's only seeing 39%, they've pocketed the real amount. [Reply]

Vanguards target date index fund for 2025 has gained around 55% or so over the last 5 years. Add in mutual fund expense fees that exceed Vanguard and 1% or so for the advisor and that seems a likely result.
If it helps you stay invested during big draw downs, it's probably worth it. Outside of that, unless you need serious tax planning or estate guidance, you're probably not getting a lot for the cost you're spending. [Reply]

Would you believe that my IRA has had more than 39% growth each of the last three years? My account is up nearly 500% since Jan 2019. I'm not some kind of financial genius. I buy and hold. This market is INSANE right now. 8% annual growth seems to me like a missed opportunity. [Reply]

Absolutely. I called him last night and told him he needed to make a phone call to them and get his money out. [Reply]
