So there's an article on NFL network saying that Orlando Brown is expected to sign for 6 years $145 mil.
That comes to $24.16 mil/yr and makes him the highest paid offensive lineman in football. It also would give him the 19th highest salary per year in the NFL
How would you feel if that is the contract he ended up signing?
I'm fine with it. He is a top 5 LT and he's only 26 next season. A young great LT is a guy you can't let leave. [Reply]
I gotta think that by waiting to get a deal done, is only going to drive up OBJ's price. And if we don't end up re-signing him, then what a wasteful trade that would end up being. [Reply]
If he skips camp and the first couple weeks he will be playing into game shape which is not ideal. Need players who want to be here in my opinion [Reply]

So it might be in both parties' interest to just let him play under the tag, assuming he wants to bet on himself.
I've heard nothing but the cap is going way up, maybe starting next season. Mahomes 1/2 BILLION $ contract looks better and better each year.
It's a good assumption that Brown's agent is counting the soon to be ballooning cap in his numbers like its already occurred.
If Veach agrees the cap is going to be at least "X" in 2023/2024. Maybe in two years, a "top of the market" rate now may seem like a bargain then. [Reply]
It’s all rumors but if true his agent probably isn’t a moron. The cap is about to go nuts. Gambling, directv streaming, more games etc.
These players aren’t stupid. They know LT’s have all the leverage in this league bc humans are not meant to be that big, strong and fast. There’s easily more demand than supply.
Next Spring these guys are gonna ask for that $30 million WR money. It’s gonna happen [Reply]

We essentially traded a 2nd round pick for him. [Reply]
