2023 – A new beginning for the Royals. Matt Quatraro era begins. A year to see which of our young players will make up the core going forward. Can Bobby Witt Jr become a superstar SS or will go to the hot corner? Will Brady Singer take the next step forward? Will Salvy be Salvy? Will Big Vin or Pratto take first base? Will they find a position for MJ? Who else emerges from the youth movement? Not to mention the development of the new downtown stadium.

They also have a real issue in that Bubic is getting a second opinion which is never good...and they have zero help...
Heasley is getting lit up at AAA, Kowar is a reliever, there's no one ready. [Reply]
Paying the price for keeping Moore and by extension Eldred long past their expiration date. Excising a cancer of that magnitude will take multiple seasons and that's IF Piccolo and co are actually the right ones for the job. [Reply]

The Rays will take a fringe major league reliever like Jeffrey Springs and turn him into a Cy Young-caliber starter.
Jason Adam had a 6.12 ERA with the Royals in 2018 and a 5.91 ERA with the Cubs in 2021.
He lowered his ERA to 1.56 with the Rays last year and is now one of the top high leverage relievers in baseball.
It's not realistic to expect the Royals to meet their level of efficiency. A better objective would be trying to be meeting the level of the Brewers, Guardians or Athletics. [Reply]

Are there elite players at the top of this draft or are matching up with another Hochevar/Fisher year?
If its truly an evaluation period we may as well start at the P4 parking garage elevator 4 stories underground and see how they eyeball and draft talent in pole position.
I mean these other contracts will be coming up for arb but lets just find out what we got! [Reply]

This could be the worst defensive team in Royals history. I don't know what the numbers show, but I don't remember ever seeing a Royals team this bad defensively.
MJ Melendez is one of the worst defensive players I can remember. [Reply]
I - and most objective people - forecast this pile of shit coming before the season and I was told to stop bitching and wait for the season... . [Reply]
This just sucks that the season is over before it really started. It just kills your long-term enthusiasm. I used to be so much more of a fan. Having said that, it's hard to be too critical of the new regime. (It makes no sense to spend money on free agents in these type of years.). This disaster is on Dayton Moore: where's the talent?
