We all should be rooting for Bootle. If you can't get behind someone named "Dicaprio Bootle" then you obviously are a bad person and should feel bad. Think of the announcers reactions if he becomes a great player? Entertainment alone makes him the easy favorite imo. Playing DB is just icing on the cake. [Reply]
The Kansas City Chiefs will soon officially announce their undrafted free agent signings, but several have already been reported.
One of those players is former South Alabama linebacker Riley Cole. The 6-2 and 242-pound linebacker earned First-Team All-Sun Belt Conference honors in 2020, leading the Jaguars with 96 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
As Cole begins his NFL career, his new team might have a different role in mind. Speaking with WNSP Sports Radio on Monday, Cole confirmed reports that the Chiefs had worked him out at the fullback position during his pro day at South Alabama.
“Yeah, that’s definitely true,” Cole said of working out at fullback. “They were the first team that wanted to see me at fullback, and I mean, I’m all for it. The more you can do, the better off you’re going to be so. I’m all for it. I don’t know if that’s still their plan, but I guess we’ll see once we get to camp.”
The #Chiefs are signing former Notre Dame WR Chris Finke, per source.
“The Slippery Fox” impressed on the pro day circuit, catching balls for the likes of Trevor Lawrence and Ian Book, and now gets his shot with Patrick Mahomes.
It's possible for UDFA LB Riley Cole to make the Chiefs team.
Last season at South Alabama, Riley had 96 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries, in 10 games.
He has to earn his spot from this group -
LB (5) Anthony Hitchens, Dorian O’Daniel, Willie Gay Jr, Ben Niemann, Darius Harris, Omari Cobb, Emmanuel Smith, and Nick Bolton.
To cut Ben Niemann it would cost the Chiefs $800,000 in dead money. They could trade him and have $400,000 in dead money. $763,750 would be saved on a cut and $1,163,750 would be saved on a trade.
It would be less expensive to cut Dorian O'Daniel. To cut or trade Dorian would result in $190,379 of dead money. $948,000 would be saved.
It will be a good competition in camp and may the best players win. [Reply]
