The overall numbers that include asymptomatic carriers don’t mean much beyond the fact that they can spread the virus unknowingly. At the end of all this it will show the lethality to be lower but right now the only thing that matters are the number of cases capable of progressing to serious/critical and the impact that will have on health care resources.

If you look at California so far today they are trending in the right direction but I fear that leaving beaches open as late as last week is going to result in another spike. I don’t understand why people can’t grasp how congregating now is what causes this to explode later.

But the steps that have been taken seem to be helping as the rate of spread is slowing day over day. Need to see where we are in a week to get a better grasp on it.

And as someone else said its way way lower because of the unknown cases.
Again, the total asymptomatic numbers when factored in will result in a lower death rate.

But that doesn’t matter. What matters is keeping the spread down so that the cases that do become symptomatic are lower and we don’t put stress on the available hospital beds, ventilators, doctors, and nurses. Because when those things start to max out the death rate can skyrocket because there is no available care.

Slowing the spread and having more treatments/making more ventilators is all that matters at this point.

Unlikely.

Ice can actually preserve viruses. They have found that viruses locked away in n permafrost can be active after thawing. Apparently it is not just a Hollywood trope.

I know the Raiders fans are upset that they are leaving for Las Vegas, but that's no excuse for disposing of their gear that way.

Missouri now has 183 cases. How many people have actually been tested? Who knows.

New Yorkers fleeing their state’s house arrest measures and heading to Florida.

Shocking.

Do you want martial law? Because this is how you get martial law.

There is no such thing as cold. There is just the absence of heat.

That’s pretty much the only way you are realistically going to enforce these crazy house arrest directives.
