I mean that shit is all over social media of people saying it doesn't matter what he posted etc etc.
The worst offender in all of this is Molly Knight. She was the Athletic reporter that covered it...she had documents that said the girls skull wasn't fractured...she ran the story that it was anyway.
On top of that she deleted all of her Bauer tweets and protected her account when his video went up. [Reply]

She knows she her career and her finances are about to get absolutely hammered Covington Catholic style.
Lots of people are assholes, I just don't understand why he was targeted by the media. Was it because some other baseball players didn't like him? [Reply]
Not sure how many examples of people get either wrongly or at minimum questionably accused of serious sexual crimes have to happen until people start to take a deep breath before burning someone at the stake.
Random people on the internet almost never know all of the facts and details that are so important to the actual truth. But what surprises me is the willingness of people with a voice on the topic, be it journalists, executives, law enforcement, college discipline boards, etc that will continue to push forward while staring exculpatory information directly in the face.
In some instances its clearly bc they value clicks over truth. But what the hell is the reason for the others? Afraid if they go against the cultural pressure there will be backlash?? I find it insane that ANY individual could knowingly allow someone else's life to be completely tarnished when knowing the "story" is complete BS. [Reply]

Take a look at the headlines being run on this...
They're all things like Disgraced pitcher settles with accuser" which implies he paid her. [Reply]

100%. That's the framing I've seen in any story about it the past 24 hours. Which is just utter bullshit.
But I cynically understand that side bc it's exhibit A of what we call journalism these days. Which is a sad truth that I wish WASN'T the case but whatever.
The thing I can't understand is how MLB, lawyers involved, team executives and the like can just freaking go along with it all while having much more information than the general public who is only informed by these biased writers and their narratives. In this case, all of the above clearly had much more information and Trevor's side of the story as well. And they just let this guys entire career get shit on for years. I know Bauer has a reputation to be an asshole, and I never was a fan, but FFS someone has to care about just doing what is right in situations like these. The UVA rape hoax was almost a decade ago and this type of shit still happens. [Reply]

Noticed that last night.
The media absolutely hammered Bauer when he was initially accused so they're going to report it in the light most favorable to their predetermined outcome.

My theory is that it’s because he didn’t have defenders in the locker room that he got the boot. I’m not justifying it at all - it just baffles me that Urias and Chapman have still found work (Urias on Bauer’s same team) while having much heavier charges against them. [Reply]

And I'm not even sure he's a douchebag.
He's a bit of a bro and he's extremely outspoken. So people put a microphone in front of him and he speaks his mind.
In a manner that...shall we say, the media class...doesn't agree with.
I mean the guy has some sharp edges, don't get me wrong. But in the end he's mostly just been something of an immature bro who hasn't ever taken to attempts to coach him into press-speak.
But, as I have said a dozen times on this board, sticking your dick in crazy is just a real bad idea. Especially when you're rich. [Reply]

It's really ridiculous.
They do that for everyone though.
It's all about clicks and if they have to retract anything...they'll soften it as much as they can get away with. [Reply]
