I got 3 new vinyl albums this weekend:

So Band-Maid dropped two new videos overnight.

The first is for their new single:

Kinda underwhelming for my tastes. They have done softer ballads before but at least Kanami (lead guitar) and MISA(bass) got to show off during them. Not so much here.

This on the other hand is much more up my alley. A live blu-ray quality version of Real Existence:

Taken from the blu-ray that will come with the deluxe edition of the single. Might get it for that alone.

Yeah that live track is rocking.

I've been listening to a lot of Bob Dylan lately, but I've been packing and reflective. Beck 'Sea Changes' etc.

I've realized that I'm actually spending my last days in Missouri, so that's kind of hitting me.

New project that I'm working on is a reissue label, a buddy and I got permission to reboot an old label from the artist's management, so now we gotta go to Sony and dig up some masters...

Perhaps it's my half-hearted attempt at a mid-life crisis but I've been hooked on 80's music lately.

Hey, 80s music isn't bad. Just like any decade there was a lot of crap but also a lot of really good music being made as well.

Yes. The fifties to the end of the nineties has a lot of great stuff in it. There's a lot of BS in it too. Even some of that's okay for sentimental reasons. After that most of it all sounds similar to what came before it, or is just so popish. I'm just gonna listen to what it was based off of instead of the carbon copied version

I find modern British and American popular music and rock to be kind of droll but that doesn't mean that there isn't good music being made today. You just have to look for it and sift through some crap. It might even be made in a foreign country. Sweden's metal scene is the best it has ever been with Ghost and Sabaton leading the charge. Japan's underground pop and rock scene has seen a huge amount of creativity since 2010 with Babymetal being the most popular act but other groups like Band-Maid and Necronomidol gaining decent followings in the West.

That's what basically it all came down to when pop took over around the turn of the century. Even college rock stations started playing top 40 pop because at the time that's what the kids were listening to. I just didn't want to have to search for music. I just started branching out my tastes to go more in depth with old hip hop, older metal. If I have to look it's going to be deeper into when music wasn't pop. Like last year as an example I really got into death and black metal, and thanks for mentioning some ideas as I'm gonn go check out Ghost now

Is the reel to reel working? if so its pretty easy to do it yourself.

Reel-to-reel tape deck with a pair of stereo output jacks can be connected to a computer or laptop for creating digital copies of the analog tapes on the reels. The connection takes a standard stereo cable and a Y-adapter that condenses the two stereo signals from the tape deck to a single stereo plug that can hook up to the recording jack on the PC or laptop. Many computers may already be installed with recording software. Free software such as the Audacity program can be downloaded from the Internet.

My dad had an old reel-to-reel player. I'm trying to find someone who can (affordably :-) ) transfer or play his nearly YEARS of tape...
