It's an UGLY deal. Guaranteeing those option bonuses and the 2024 salary really rat-fucked them. Had they not done that, perhaps they could've gotten out after 2024. But with an extra $16 million in option guarantees for 2025 and 2026, they're pretty much hosed.

Pretty amazing to be #39 after only 4.25 years as a starter. He's on a pace similar to Rodgers or Brady or Manning in terms of his "per year" points in the list. The biggest feather in Denver's cap in that whole exchange was that they had so much flexibility in Russ's contract because the structure of it gave him a lower base salary and the signing bonuses hit Seattle's cap. They had an opportunity to use that flexibility to their advantage.
Instead they just set it all on fire and doubled down on a mediocre QB.
Just ****ed this thing up coming and going. And if my memory on the extension is correct, it came during camp - right? They'd seen him play. They had to realize something was amiss.
Just remarkably awful.
The extension was always baffling, given they would have had plenty of time to watch him and evaluate his play. Instead, they RUSHED to extend him.
