1. If you're a new player, start with the current Chiefs roster. If you've been playing for a while you'll have your own evolved roster.
2. You can add any free agent that the Chiefs add.
3. You lose any free agent that the Chiefs lose, but only if they were on the Chiefs' roster when you began playing.
4. You can accept or reject any trade the Chiefs make as long as any Chiefs player involved is currently on your roster.
5. You do not get players that the Chiefs draft. You draft your own players, using the same draft picks that the Chiefs have.
6. You can trade down ONE time before the draft or after the draft. If you trade down before the draft, you get up to full value for your pick according to this chart: https://www.drafttek.com/NFL-Trade-V...-Rich-Hill.asp. (Note: this chart was updated in 2022.) If you trade down after the draft, the value of the picks you trade must be discounted by at least 25 percent. Any trade down must involve only the picks of one NFL team, and you cannot receive more than two picks more than you give up. (In other words, if you trade away one draft pick you cannot pick up more than three in return.) The other team's picks also must be picks that they held prior to the opening of the draft. See the examples at the bottom of the post.
6. You can trade up ONE time before the draft or after the draft. Okay, having tested the waters I think we've got enough interest in this. There will be two other games as well that I'll announce soon.
The concept of this game is to, over a series of years, see which Chiefsplanet members are best at building a team. We can have an unlimited number of players, and this game will take very little time on your part - just a little bit of time and some voting.
Here's how the game will work.
Step 1. First, you have to locate your team in a city. It cannot be in a city that has an existing NFL team, so you must pick from the following cities, which are the largest cities that don't have an NFL team, but ensuring that there's at least one city in every state. If we have more than 100 players I'll add to this list. (List deleted for brevity. If you start playing, just pick a city.)
Step 2. Once the NFL draft is complete on April 26, owners will select players who were available with each Chiefs selection (i.e., do their own draft) and add these people to their roster. If the Chiefs make any draft day trades, the player may choose to accept or reject the trade and act accordingly.
Step 3. After training camp, each owner selects 40 (Edited up from 35) Chiefs players who are "their" players who will make up their roster. The remaining 13 positions will be filled by a generic "scrub".
Step 4. At the end of the season, the person will provide an overview of who started at each position over the course of the year, providing the number of starts at each position by each player. Edit: the rules for doing so are discussed in Post 285.
Step 5. At the end of the season, we will have a Survivor-style vote among the general Chiefsplanet population to determine who had the best team that year, including impacts of injuries and other issues.
Step 6. In Year 2 (and beyond), the player starts with his/her core of 40 players, adds new players through the draft, and can then pick another core of players from the following pool: their 40-player core, new drafted players, and any new free agent that joins the Chiefs
If the Chiefs make a trade that includes draft picks, each owner can choose to accept or reject that trade on their own team. If the Chiefs make a trade involving a player on the Chiefs roster, the owner can accept that trade ONLY if his/her own roster includes that player.
There will be no trades between owners, and no implications of the salary cap.
I realize that in the first season we'll have a lot of players with similar rosters, but they'll diverge over time and that's where it'll get interesting.
So...if you're interested in playing, claim your city and name your team.

The 10th pick is normally 369 points, but by paying 15 percent more, it will cost you 1.15*369, or 424 points. So you would need to come up with another 165 points to make the deal (424-259)
For example, if you want to trade down from the 20th pick in the 1st and pick up the 10th pick in the 2nd, your 20th pick would normally be worth 259 points, but in this game it will be worth 25 percent less, or 194 points. The 10th pick in the 2nd is worth 142 points, so you can get 52 points back from the other team. (Remember that you cannot pick up more than two extra picks in the trade, so consider your math carefully.)
You can do only ONE draft-pick trade up and ONE draft-pick trade down, and in each case you can only trade with one other team for their own picks. (In other words, you couldn't take the 52 points in the above example from a third team.) [Reply]
Don't know if I'll be around much for a while so I'm going to post this right away...
I come into this offseason with a serious need to add upper-echelon talents to the defensive line and depth at LB, CB, and WR.
Draft capital includes an extra 2nd round pick from the Dee Ford trade but no 6th or 7th round picks due to trading for Darron Lee and Jordan Lucas, leaving me with 1-32, 2-63, 2-64, 3-96, 4-138, and 5-177.
I made the decision not to do a pre-draft trade, which may be a blessing in disguise at this point. In any event, I will make an in-draft trade down sending my 3rd round pick #96 to the Chicago Bears for their 4th round pick #125, 5th round pick #163, and 7th round pick #226. The 96th pick is valued at 116 points and has a discounted value of 75.4 points. The Bears picks are worth 47, 26.2, and 1 point respectively, adding up to 74.2 points.
I don't accept the Chiefs trade of a 2021 6th for 7th round #237.
With that, here's the Superior Yetis Draft:
1-32 - DT Ross Blacklock, TCU (6'3" 290, HOU #40)
I had my eyes fixated on taking Tee Higgins, Michael Pittman Jr., or Brandon Aiyuk early on but doing so would put me in a difficult spot to get impact defensive tackles that I desperately need. Blacklock is a penetrating defensive lineman that can consistently push the pocket and make plays and was widely regarded as the 3rd rated defensive tackle in this draft. In the actual NFL, Blacklock should be an immediate starter at 3-4 DE opposite JJ Watt which should bode well for my team going forward.
2-63 (f/SF) - LB Logan Wilson, Wyoming (6'2" 241, CIN #65)
Unlike the Chiefs, I'm not hinging my hopes and prayers at LB to a guy that isn't smart and hasn't produced on the field. Instead, I'm going with a guy that has had outstanding production and a player most analysts have called the most complete linebacker in this draft. This isn't necessarily an immediate need with Damien Wilson, Anthony Hitchens, and Cole Holcomb all starters, but improving over Hitchens and Wilson in the final year of his contract are certainly the biggest consideration here.
2-64 - DT Justin Madubuike, Texas A&M (6'3" 293, BAL #71)
After spending a 3rd round pick on Harrison Phillips at DT in 2018, he had a stellar rookie season only to tear his ACL early in 2019 and miss the year. I expected to have him back at least as a strong rotational player but the signings of Quinton Jefferson and Vernon Butler this offseason by the Bills has me concerned about Phillips so I basically have to find two starters in this draft. I'm going to bring in one of Mel Kiper's favorites here in Madubuike who may not start in 2020 and may marinate behind Derek Wolfe (1-year deal), but he should be in the mix immediately and become a starter in 2021 to, hopefully, give me outstanding bookends for my defensive front. Between Madubuike and Blacklock I should have myself a penetrating defensive front that can make plays.
4-125 (f/CHI) - WR Gabriel Davis, Central Florida (6'2" 216, BUF #128)
I have an obvious need at WR after Tyler Boyd and Sammy Watkins with a practice squad bandit in Cody Thompson, a current free agent in Rashad Higgins, and a roster bubble guy in Olabisi Johnson rounding out my corps, plus Watkins is a free agent after 2020. Davis is a guy that has an opportunity to immediately become a #3 receiver and eventually much more as he develops. This is a guy that can come in and push the field vertically as well as be a matchup problem as a big-bodied possession type but he will have to develop his route tree and route-running ability.
4-138 - CB L'Jarius Sneed, Louisiana Tech (6'0" 192, KC #138)
I had to go into this thing thinking about CB because my depth behind Breeland (on a 1-year deal) and Byron Murphy consists of Holton Hill and he may only be a 4th corner. Like the Chiefs, I was high on Sneed coming into this. I think Sneed projects as a CB on the next level and I think that's where KC will look to play him, but he also can be an interchangeable piece in the secondary and provide you with different looks. Sneed comes with alot of speed and is physical in the route, which I really think is something needed in a division now loaded with speed receivers.
5-163 (f/CHI) - ER Curtis Weaver, Boise State (6'2" 265, MIA #164)
When I originally made the trade down, my eyes were initially on another Boise State player, WR John Hightower. The problem is that Hightower is going to an extremely crowded receiver room and his career trajectory comes into question. Weaver is a guy, where you have to listen to Bucky Brooks and Daniel Jeremiah and agree that college sack production usually translates to the pro game and Weaver has it in spades. This isn't a guy that looks like he's a 34 sack guy, but he's got some good athleticism, multiple moves, and he bends at the top of his arc well. I think you put this guy into an NFL strength and conditioning program and they'll mold this kid's body and strength and he could be a sneaky good player in Miami's 3-4 as a stand-up edge rusher. I'm not hurting for pass rushers, but this is a guy I feel like is a day 2 pick that fell and is too good of a value.
5-177 - WR Donovan Peoples-Jones, Michigan (6'2" 212, CLE #187)
I needed to come into this draft probably looking for two receivers and preferably one early, but I'm coming out with both of them late. I just can't come out of this with only one receiver and have to hedge my bets. I'm hinging hopes to Peoples-Jones who I really like as an athlete and traits-based guy. He's an explosive player that can do a lot of things but he's not consistent. He should have a great opportunity in Cleveland to put himself into the #3 role behind Landry and Beckham, Jr, and eventually become more should Cleveland unlock his incredible potential.
7-226 (f/CHI) - CB Thakarius "Bopete" Keyes, Tulane (6'1" 202, KC #237)
My CB room is depleted as noted in the Sneed pick, so going after multiple guys there is important. I really liked Keyes as a sleeper prospect and was thrilled when the Chiefs moved a 2021 6th for the rights to snag him in the 7th. I don't have to make the same move here, having a perfectly slotted pick from my trade down to take him a bit earlier. Keyes is another in-your-face CB with size and athleticism that may help the secondary moving forward.

The first round fell in a way that didn't work great for my needs. I've got volume at DE already, but don't have high-level production. So Gross-Matos is my guy.
Other considerations: Delpit at SS, Trade down with the Bills to get Epenesa (DE), Wanogho (OT), and Derrek Tuszka (LB), or Trade down with the Jets to get Ashtyn Davis (FS), Troy Dye (ILB), and Bryce Hall (CB).

I really have trouble finding linebackers. I figured Baun would go earlier, so he seemed like a great value here.
Other considerations: I didn't seriously consider anyone other than Baun. I briefly considered Cushenberry (C), and Gallimore (DT).
#3-96 - Lucas Niang, G/T (Chiefs)
I looked at other players, but our own Niang rose to the top considering my need for a guard.
Other considerations: I strongly considering trading down with the Jets to take Troy Dye and Bryce Hall, which then would have freed up my 4th rounder to take Bredeson (G), who I liked. But I'm pretty sure Niang will be starting and I wasn't sure about the other guys. I also considered Malik Harrison, Akeem Davis-Gaither, and Tyre Phillips.
#4-117 - Amik Robertson, CB (Raiders).
I was really interested in a couple of guys here, Robertson and Ben Bredeson. I was really torn on those two. I also considered Bryce Hall (CB) and Curtis Weaver (DE).
#5-138 - Donovan Peoples-Jones, WR (Browns).
He was really the only guy I seriously considered here. I need some WR talent and he seemed to be a good value here.
My only other consideration here was Prince Tega Wanogho, but it wasn't a serious consideration. [Reply]

I feel good heading into the season with this crew.
I'm thin at RB after Jones and Carson with Washington getting cut, so we'll see what happens between now and Thursday but at the moment I need to hope Washington catches on somewhere. I'm secretly hoping Veach snags Kerrith Whyte from Pittsburgh on waivers...
I think my additions on the defensive line should pay some dividends. Reports are that Phillips is looking solid in his return from a torn ACL and Blacklock has been a menace in Texans camp. If Madubuike can get some solid time in Baltimore as well as Sieler in Miami, I'll be looking much better there.
I'm a bit disappointed that Curtis Weaver got injured/waived then picked up by Cleveland. If he pays any dividends, it wouldn't be likely until 2022 so I cut ties with a 5th rounder early. I also felt ok with making big-boy cuts on the O-line with guys like Remmers and Reiter, as well as on the edge with Okafor because of my overall depth. Let go of some draft picks too, but I'm okay with it.

DL - Ross Blacklock (#1-32/20 - HOU) - 1 gs 14 tkl, 1 tfl 2 qbh - I expected alot more of my top investment so hopeful 2021 is a big year
DL - Justin Madubuike (#2-64/20 - BAL) - 3 gs 19 tkl, 2 tfl, 2 qbh, 1 sk - Baltimore started working him more as the season went on, could be a big contributor in 2021.
DL - Harrison Phillips (#3-95/18 - BUF) - 3 gs 18 tkl, 4 qbh - Looking more like his old self as the season wore on in his return year from injury. Hoping he steps up in 2021.
DL - Carlos Watkins (#4-132/17 - HOU) - 11 gs 27 tkl, 4 tfl, 2 qbh, 2 sks - Took on a more prominent role in 2020 in his 4th yr. We'll see what comes of his future.
DL - Zach Sieler (#7-219/18 - MIA) - 8 gs 48 tkl, 11 tfl, 11 qbh, 3.5 sks - Took on a big role since arriving in Miami last year. He should continue to grow and good production from a 7th rounder.
DL - Tershawn Wharton (UDFA/20 - KC) - 1 gs 14 tkl, 4 tfl, 4 qbh, 2 sk - More production than my 1st round pick as a rookie. I have tempered expectations but he's a role player to keep around
ER - Justin Houston (IND) - 16 gs 25 tkl, 8 tfl, 12 qbh, 8 sks - Continues to be a productive edge rusher at 32.
ER - Matt Judon (#4-129/16 - BAL) - 13 gs 32 tkl 9 tfl 21 qbh 6 sks - Always the solid disruptor and producer on the edge.
ER - Oshane Ximines (#3-92/19 - NYG) - 3 gs 5 tkl 3 1 tfl 3 qbh - Disappointing year from Ximines, shoulder injury in October
ER - Tanoh Kpassagnon (#2-59/17 - KC) - 15 gs 2 tfl 4 qbh 1 sk - Disappointing production from a 15 game starter, With Houston's age, might be time to spend a resource here again
ER - Ogbonnia Okoronkwo (#5-159/18 - LAR) - 12 tkl 1 tfl 3 qbh 1 sk - Some production but no starts. A 5th round swing not looking like much 2 years in.
ER - Taco Charlton (FA/20 - KC) - 7 tkl 1 tfl 4 qbh 2 sks - Looked okay in 7 games before being injured. Not sure if he has a future here though.
LB - Anthony Hitchens (FA/18 - KC) - 14 gs 78 tkl 2 tfl 4 qbh 1 pd - Remains a subpar ILB I can hopefully replace.
LB - Damien Wilson (FA/19 - KC) - 13 gs 73 tkl 3 tfl 1 pd - A middling SLB that is ok in his role but certainly upgradable.
LB - Cole Holcomb (#5-167/19 - WAS) - 10 gs 72 tkl 6 tfl 4 qbh 2.5 sk 1 pd - A good player at ILB that looked like a stud in bloom but an injury early set him back some. Going to be good for years though
LB - Logan Wilson (#2-63/20 - CIN) - 2 gs 33 tkl 4 tfl 2 qbh 1 sk 3 pd 2 int - Productive in a limited role as a rookie and has shown promise especially in pass defense.
CB - Bashaud Breeland (FA/19 - KC) - 11 gs 38 tkl 1 tfl 9 pd 2 int - Came back from suspension as good as ever. Might need to replace him if he's let go in FA.
CB - Byron Murphy (#1-29/19 - ARZ) - 7 gs 51 tkl 3 tfl 2 qbh 2 sk 8 pd - Solid in a more limited role in year 2. Disappointed some in a 1st round investment to date though
CB - Holton Hill (#7-243/18 - MIN) - 2 gs 24 tkl 1 sk 3 pd - 8 game suspension then was waived in December so not sure about his future.
CB - L'Jarius Sneed (#4-138/20 - KC) - 6 gs 41 tkl 2 tfl 3 qbh 2 sk 7 pd 3 int - looks like a stud in the making as a rookie, too bad injury set him back in the middle 8 games of the yr
CB - Thakarius Keyes (#7-226/20 - KC) - 1 gs 8 tkl - A special teamer until week 17. We'll have to see if he grows. I probably need an investment at CB this year.
DB - Jessie Bates (#2-52/18 - CIN) - 16 gs 109 tkl 2 tfl 1 qbh 15 pd 3 ints - Bates is a verified stud, that's all there is to it.
DB - Tyrann Mathieu (FA/19 - KC) - 15 gs 62 tkl 3 tfl 2 qbh 9 pd 6 int - Huge year in the turnover department for Mathieu and he's a great leader for this D.
DB - Tarvarius Moore (#3-86/18 - SF) - 8 gs 52 tkl 1 tfl 1 pd - Still not sure what I have with Moore but he showed more growth as a FS than CB.
DB - Amani Hooker (#4-116/19 - TEN) - 3 gs 51 tkl 1 tfl 8 pd 4 ints - Hooker continued to grow in year 2 and looks like a starter for 2021 at SS.
K Harrison Butker (FA/17 - KC) - 48/54 xp was disappointing but righted the ship later in the year. 25/27 fg with 4 over 50 yards. A top kicker.
P Tommy Townsend (UDFA/20 - KC) - 52 pnt for 2,339 yds good for a 45.0 average. Solid NFL punter that doesn't break the bank.
LS James Winchester - Hes a long snapper that long snaps like a long snapper should so umm yeah.
Okay, let's see how my roster did in 2020. I had pro bowlers or all-pros at QB, HB, TE, OG, and FS, and my WR and DE positions were disasters. I think I would have fielded a reasonable playoff team, but I would have been victimized by a mediocre front seven and a lack of WRs.
