The full 2024 NFL schedule is slated to be released at 8pm ET on May 15, six days after teams were originally expecting it, according to a league memo sent this afternoon.

The memo from NFL EVP/Media Distribution Hans Schroeder did not give a reason for the delay. The schedule release had not been officially announced yet, and the league always maintains a degree of flexibility considering the complex nature of developing the schedule. But some teams had been told informally it was coming Thursday.

Schroeder wrote that more details about activations or other nuances of the plan were expected in the coming days. The league and media rights holders sometimes announce specific high-profile matchups before the full slate is unveiled.

The schedule release has become a key priority for teams and the league in recent years, with teams preparing increasingly sophisticated schedule social content and using it as a starting point for single-game ticket sales.

Indeed, at least my dream was mercifully killed right away. Rather than Wednesday evening during the release show.

I had also noticed hotels in downtown Pittsburgh were already either sold out or extremely expensive. The Renaissance was perfect for the Royals @ Pirates roadtrip. Short, safe walk right to the game via the Roberto Clemente bridge.

Yes, I know. Just thinking if you are tweeting out a big schedule update about a single game with a graphic, etc, you might remind people who didn't memorize all the home game teams.

Getting the Ravens and Bengals games out of the way before Lamar and Burrow get hurt

I'm definitely not opposed to just using Bengals @ Chiefs instead of the old 'vs' that they use now.

Yes, I've been a couple times. Really enjoy going there. You walk from downtown across the bridge right to the stadium. Awesome atmosphere.

Reid with 3 new toys for the arsenal (Hollywood, Xavier, and Jared Wiley) has a whole offseason and then 10 days to prepare for the Bengals. Avoid the mid season drag of "can the playoffs just get here"...it really couldn't work out any better for us. Minus the Rice situation of course, but those 3 new additions will be plenty for Reid and Mahomes to plan for. Reid's gonna run 3 TE sets and take complete advantage of the Ravens LB’s. Especially having to adjust to life without Queen.

Then all those toys early in the season where the Bengals have historically struggled the last few seasons. They got Von Bell back now so I think they'll get the safeties back in gear a little more, but probably not by week 2. And not with 3 athletic tight ends (2 of which can also stretch the field) and 2 of the fastest players in the league that you'll have only 1 week of game film on in an Andy Reid system.

Bring. It. The. Fuck. On.

The shield had to schedule this early to ensure that Burrow would actually be able to play.

Am I the only one who doesn't like this start? Our schedule is 8 home and 9 away games this year. After week 2 our remaining schedule is 6 home and 9 away. I'm not thrilled about that at all.
