Nzoner's Game Room>Zach Ertz asks Cardinals for release; wants to go to contender
RunKC 11:50 AM 11-30-2023

Trying new things in retirement, so let’s steal @AdamSchefter job for a day...

TE Zach Ertz has requested & been granted his release from the Arizona Cardinals.

The 3-Time Pro Bowler plans to sign with a contender and make a run at his 2nd Super Bowl ring.

Yup. The possibility was there for someone to claim him though. Not sure about the back channel goings on though with his agent and teams that might want to do that. Seems a bit sketchy that no one put in a claim...

I also don't know how the contract thing works. Is the claiming team responsible for the approx 2.5M but if he becomes a FA, they start from scratch? At that point it just becomes a bidding war and he choses who he wants and they potentially pay more than they would have if they had just claimed him.

And again, i have to wonder just how much he will contribute.

I agree with others on here.

1. Chiefs have Kelce and Gray so in KC he would be the 3rd TE and if he played really well might move up to the 2nd TE.

2. Baltimore and Philadelphia could use him on their teams.

3. TE Zach Ertz will not be coming to Kansas City.

I honestly cannot believe nobody put in a waiver claim for him. I kind of expected Indy to do it since they remain in contention for a playoff spot and don't have a TE worth a shit.

Nobody wanted to pay his current salary. Now who grabs him can renegotiate his salary.

Dallas Goedert is injured. On what planet does he end up anywhere other than back in Philly?

He was back at practice this week. Also with Goedert, AJ Brown and Smith on the field, how many touches would Ertz see? He'd have more opportunities in KC clearly.

Baltimore needs him most with Andrews going down for the year

Nobody needs a washed up player. They should instead adjust their offense to the actual talent they already have.

It would be nice to have him in our 3 tight end sets . I would gladly trade out Bell for Ertz.

Ertz an interesting one. Ravens and Eagles are the obvious ones — but keep an eye on KC. https://t.co/qLWQCWG9i7
