Dwayne Haskins, a standout at Ohio State before struggling to catch on with Washington and Pittsburgh in the NFL, died this morning when he got hit by a car in South Florida, per his agent Cedric Saunders. Haskins would have turned 25 years old on May 3.
We should feel that all deaths are equal, but there's something that seems particularly unjust about becoming a self-made multi-millionaire at 22 and then dying at 24. [Reply]
Gil Brandt's comments about Dwayne Haskins were obviously unacceptable. I would add that Gil should not be doing live radio interviews anymore. He is 90 years old and in ailing health and there are some people around him who have put their own interests ahead of his.

What a bunch of bleeding vagina's in this damn world. That is a sad thing also.
How many people would have even known who Schefter and others were referencing had they not provided that context? Not nearly as many. [Reply]

I think the angst is a bit overblown, but Schefter definitely didn't have to say that he sucked. Simply saying that he was a backup QB for the Steelers and former QB of Washington would have been plenty of context. [Reply]

The larger issue for me is that everything Schefter said was true. He sucked, but Schefter just said he struggled. It's not like he attacked his character or him as a person. He just told the truth. [Reply]
