$9.5 million savings can pay for a pretty good player
I just realized I fucked up my calculations...
This is correct except it doesn't show what happens in year 2 correctly. With a June 1 designation, all guaranteed money stays on the books for the current year at it's current rate. The remainder accelerates to year 2.
Berry has 2,950,000 in guaranteed salary in 2019 and 4,000,000 in prorated bonus, both of which stay on the cap totaling 6,950,000. That saves the team $9,550,000 in 2019.
In 2020, the remaining 8,000,000 of prorated bonus money accelerates to the cap which means the actual cap savings in 2020 is $5,500,000. [Reply]

I'm just saying what the Chiefs are going to do. I don't think they're going to cut bait for awhile and they need to let him get that other heel recovered finally.
I don't see Clark swallowing his pride yet. [Reply]
Between Patrick Mahomes' rookie contract and Eric Berry not playing a full game since signing as the highest paid safety, I wonder if the Chiefs have the NFL's best and worst individual contracts.

What does a DB with 2 achilles surgeries offer? [Reply]

You'd likely use those funds to hammer out extensions for Hill and Jones, I'd think. Use the $38 mllion in cap space now to get your free agents. [Reply]
