2023 – A new beginning for the Royals. Matt Quatraro era begins. A year to see which of our young players will make up the core going forward. Can Bobby Witt Jr become a superstar SS or will go to the hot corner? Will Brady Singer take the next step forward? Will Salvy be Salvy? Will Big Vin or Pratto take first base? Will they find a position for MJ? Who else emerges from the youth movement? Not to mention the development of the new downtown stadium.

It could have adverse impact too, like MLB doing another contraction of minor league baseball like it did in 2020 when it cut out 40-plus affiliates. [Reply]

I think it will have minimal impact because signing bonuses are still the swaying factor and MLB teams still will value more known commodity college baseball juniors over higher risk HS players. The same balance will still exist.
Maybe it might factor in a few HS players forgoing an opportunity to play for Power 5 baseball program but I don't see a mass exodus because of these salary changes. This actually helps the non-bonus baby player more than anything. This is pocket change for first round picks. [Reply]
Welp, there's your 40-man move. The #Royals have traded Richard Lovelady to the Braves for cash considerations. Can't say I love how he's been handled, but the end of that chapter is here.

So dumb. Fucking Aroldis Chapman's corpse is on the roster and this guy - who should have been in the bullpen the last three years - is traded for a bag of balls.
Honestly, I like the manager hire - but JJ has been and always will be too close to Dayton - jesus they even look alike. [Reply]

They 100% think they can get Chapman back to what he was and trade him. I guess on the last broadcast Jeremy Guthrie was commenting that Loveladys fastball was in the 80s if that's where he is 18 months after Tommy John...not good. [Reply]
