Jon Favreau is directing this live-action TV series.
Looks TIGHT.

After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.
The series will be written and executive produced by Emmy-nominated producer and actor Jon Favreau, as previously announced, with Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels) directing the first episode.
Additional episodic directors include Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), Bryce Dallas Howard (Solemates), and Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok).
It will be executive produced by Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson. Karen Gilchrist will serve as co-executive producer. Stay tuned to StarWars.com for updates.

But if not her, who else? A yet to be known character (obviously)?
She's only 5'7 and since Ahsoka's reached full adulthood, I doubt many people will question her physical appearance and height.

By all reports, Sasha Banks is Sabine.
Many haven't seen Ahsoka in the animated iterations either [Reply]
After watching Sasha Banks for years in WWE, I don't think she would have the acting chops for a sustained role in a mainstream TV show. Main reason I don't think she's Sabine. [Reply]

That didn't stop them from hiring Gina Carano, who actually looks like she's "acting" at times.
I haven't received any information as to who she's playing but considering the trailers have made a deliberate effort to show that character, it has to be someone of lasting importance. [Reply]

Yeah, but Carano brought some mainstream acting cred with her, at least. Movies, as opposed to promos on NXT or Raw or Smackdown. Although I think Banks has been involved in acting classes for a while, so maybe she'd deliver more than I expect.
I just don't see anything in the first promo that screams 'that's Sabine Wren'. The VO's talking about Jedi when she appears, and she's dressed in a way that would seem more appropos for that kind of character. I don't think 'subtle' or 'understated' or even 'blending in with the background' are color palates that Sabine uses all that much.
And, yes, Sabine is ALL over the promotional stuff lately. Or her graffiti is. I just don't think we've seen her yet. We also haven't seen Bo Katan, who we know is showing up, and beyond that it's pretty likely that both of them are involved in episode 5 (penned and directed by Filoni).
I just think the Sasha as Sabine rumor is just that. Youtubers started talking about it the day the promo hit and we learned it was her, and I think their connection (the same one you posted about age and hair...) Is tenuous at best. So like I said, my guess is former Inquisitor'/padawan/random force user.
We'll find out in the next 6 weeks, either way! [Reply]

I have never watched even 10 seconds of wrestling in my life, so I don’t know anything about Sasha Banks, other than what I’ve read since hearing her name bandied about for The Mandalorian. I have no idea what her voice even sounds like, so I have no idea if she can act, at all.
Gina Carano is about as much of an actor as I am, which is to say not very much. She’s very “stiff” in her role on the show, to the point of laughable at times. In Chapter 7, the Mando recruits her for the attack on Neverro, she says no. Then, he appeals to her by mentioning an Imperial Warlord. Her “I’m In” response is so awkward and weird that I laugh every time and think to myself, “How many takes did they do before finally saying ‘That’s a wrap!’”?
It was epically bad acting. I suppose Sasha Banks could be worse but that would require a mighty effort, IMO. [Reply]

It's all about the role, IMO. Your description of Gina Carano I agree with, but it fit the role I felt. Your description could also be used for Keanu Reeves, and yet I still love John Wick (the first one anyway).
Sabine is not a wooden character to me, so I hope whoever portrays her is not a wooden actor. I know nothing about Sasha Banks or wrestling and don't plan to find out. I guess I'll find out when the show drops. [Reply]

For that matter, what about any of the other shows, like "The Expanse," etc.?
Yeah, season two wrapped filming before the lockdown began, no delay there. Premieres in two weeks.

That's is a really, really long tangent to go off on just because I'm not convinced Sasha Banks is playing Sabine... [Reply]
