Btw we traded Davis for Soler, so Soler is basically a Myers replacement anyway.
i get it you always want to argue over everything. This is what id want them to do. I dont want a fucking 75 win season and get a mid round pick. Id rather lose every game and get the top prospect and then when they're ready go for another run again. [Reply]
There’s simply no excuse for that. The Rays are NEVER this shitty. Nobody cares we aren’t competing for a few years. But the 100 loss hot f***ing garbage is totally unacceptable. DM needs to put out some 72-90 teams, but not 62-100. That’s incompetence. He’s getting close to the point he needs to be kicked into a figurehead role.
*note: DM first 6 seasons he went exactly 72-90 on avg, starting from scratch.
PB, Once the Royals are contenders again, you'll get over it. [Reply]

There it is, folks. No more complaints this year per “Deep South”. We will now wait quietly until next time we contend. We can prolly just lock the thread until then. [Reply]

You kind of took that out of context. If the Royals make the playoffs in 2021, are you really going to care that they lost 104 games in 2018? Last year is history. Complaining about it now solves nothing. Last year, all of DM's reclamation projects failed. Looks like some of his signings this year are failures. But, we all remember Madison. DM has had reclamation success in the past. [Reply]

Ok it's not so much the farm system is barren because of trades, it's more barren because they completely whiffed on a lot of picks for a 5 year period. [Reply]

Your rebuttal is dumb, sure. Because we didn’t choose between a “trophy” or being consistent. We are only in this position because we had terrible drafts for several years. Produced 1 good player since our vaunted 2011 farm ranking.
Another dirty little secret: we wouldn’t have eithe trophy had we swapped divisions with Tampa. (Keep that on the Down low) [Reply]

The Championship was great but it's kind of lipstick on a pig. Over the past decade the Rays have averaged 8 more wins per season despite averaging $30 mil less in payroll. They've had 3 playoff appearances to the Royals 2 appearances and the Rays even had 2 other seasons with 90 wins where they didn't make the playoffs.
They are a better run franchise by just about any standpoint and are in a division with 2 payroll behemoths and the Jays are in that next tier down in terms of payroll. [Reply]

Lipstick on a pig is the Royals 2013 finish, I'd say. Bit harsh to use that phrase when describing a ship. [Reply]
