Those are a couple movies that are funny but make you think.
Probably more, but those come to mind immediately.
Edit: Had to misspell Kookoo. Some weird CP editing going on.
Those are before my time but I believe you. My post was garbage; I really didn't think it through lol
A bunch of comedies are now springing to my head in which none of the main cast are idiots/super weird: Superbad, Zombieland, basically anything starring Eddie Murphy.
I love idiot comedy, though, so don't get me wrong. Anchorman is one of my favorites and basically that entire cast outside of Christina Applegate is played by raging fucking idiots lol [Reply]
Yeah, if i have to think about the joke it probably aint that funny. So to me, all comedies are "turn your brain off". The whole point of these movies is to laugh, loosen up and unwind. Have a good time. Turning your brain off is a feature. And if i'm watching a comedy, i'm more than likely high AF.
With that said, these are my "comfort food" of comedies in no particular order:
Napoleon Dynamite
We're the Millers
Step Brothers
Taladega Nights
40 Year Old Virgin
How High
Friday
Harold and Kumar
Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny
Reno 9-1-1 (the movie)
Me, Myself & Irene
And in a tier below
Super Troopers
Eurotrip
Not Another Teen Movie
Office Space

That's what makes it funny!
The movie is satire for the mundane, boring life of a typical small rural town. It's a coming of age movie that acknowledges the awkwardness of growing up. [Reply]

Well, the whole damned world IS a joke but sometimes you need to get super high to recognize it :-)
Ain't nothing wrong with pumping the brakes every once in a while [Reply]

My wife and I are also musical kind of people, so I'd also throw in a few of those just for something to have on in the background:
The Greatest Showman
Pitch Perfect
Sing
