Nzoner's Game Room>The great big off road thread!
Dunerdr 08:50 AM 05-19-2022
I did a quick search and didnt see anything exactly like this.

With the dead time approaching my family and i will be doing a lot of camping and SxS/dirtbiking. I thought it would be cool to have a place to talk about what your riding/driving and places you go.

I wheel a Honda Pioneer 1000 its practical, fits in my dads toy hauler, seats both kids, the wife, and my niece. I've also got a KTM 520 bike, a KLX 110 to play on, and a chinese 70 my 8 year olds been learning on. My dad recently bought a Toyota FJ cruiser that will get some time around Disney Oklahoma at some point.

I hadn't ever thought about huge sand dune places existing in the US until driving out to San Diego once and the dunes are right up against the highway, and you suddenly feel like you're in the Sahara (much less in OK)... Even for living in the desert, it was pretty trippy.

I know a couple people who will spend a weekend out there, but haven't made the trip yet. I think it would be a blast though.

There’s several! I’ve got a few bucket list spots I’d like to go. When my son’s old enough to appreciate it I’ll get another quad and hit some. St Anthony in Idaho, glamis in cali for its sheer size, dining in cali is supposed to have the tallest and dunes half way up dunes when the wind is right, the pismo beach because well it’s a beach too lol. Being from eastern Oklahoma makes all these places a damn drive lol.

Used to go to Oceano Dunes near Pismo Beach a few times a year with our toys. Finally just got to crowded and the State keeps shrinking the riding areas. It was always great camping on the beach though. These days we make trips out to St Anthony’s, Sand Mountain and the Oregon Dunes. My favorite bike is my 1997 Yamaha banshee but recently caved and got a new toy recently.

That's a bad boy! I've been fixing and flipping a few bikes here and there for extra cash. Keep hoping to come across a 250r or banshee or something but the market is nuts. Really would like to build and ol two smoker and a blaster for my son to hit some of the iconic places together when he's a little older and a better rider. I'm in a Facebook group called daily dose of dunes and the guy who runs it rides St. A's all the time looks amazing.

Off Roading? I'm your Huckleberry.

Old pick but the Jeep looks about the same today.
Disney, OK below the Pensacola dam.

Ah, looks like that area is more accessible than the Eureka dunes that I had Googled.

There are lots of fun trails around Disney, don't have to tangle with the big obstacles to have fun. Part of the enjoyment I get from wheeling there is packing a cooler and going to obstacles like Viagra and Little Blue to watch people with more money than me tear up their rigs trying to climb them.
Ever hear of K-ROCKS? It's a pay to play park west of Ft. Scott with lots of fun trails to wonder around. You should check it out some time.

I hadn't heard of that. I was flipping though the last issue of dirt wheels that had the top riding spots for each state and Kansas wasn't even listed. I thought that was really strange. I've been all over Oklahoma, into a lot of Arkansas and ridden Chadwick in MO, I'm always looking for new spots in the area, good long weekend type trips. My wife has every other Friday off and that works out nicely for it.

Usually I wear a helmet. Just got my son’s 250ex unstuck and had to show him how it’s done.
