Because it's a head coaching job and the Eagles OC should probably understand that he's another Hurts injury from irrelevance.
Let's not pretend like even a lower paid NFL H/C isn't getting at least a 500% pay raise over being an OC. And he's gonna get 2, probably 3 years, after the Broncos and their new ownership group fired the previous coach less than a year in.
That's potentially $4-6 million in additional income over that time. Succeed or fail, that's life altering money - take it. There are no guarantees you'd ever have that opportunity again.
It's not like the Eagles were out there reinventing the wheel when Gardner Minshew was under center.
I'm all for the Broncos hiring a guy based on the performance of Jalen Hurts. [Reply]

I mean that is fair, before that he was the Chargers OC and got fired. [Reply]
#49ers DC DeMeco Ryans has emerged as a top candidate for the #Texans, sources tell me and @TomPelissero. He’s expected to meet with Houston at some point next week after the game. There is mutual interest and if all goes well, he could be their next head coach. pic.twitter.com/Wj2htQYEd1
With the #Texans eying DeMeco Ryans and his desire to interview with Houston next week, that may not align with #Broncos timeline despite DEN thinking highly of Ryans. GM George Paton and CEO Greg Penner have continued conversations with other candidates throughout the process.
