Everything Musk does is carefully crafted for his oddball image. Covid turned out great for Tesla, as it slowed/stopped Ford's long anticipated grand entry into electric vehicles. Ford's new electric vehicles will be years ahead of the overpriced trash Tesla is peddling. But, Tesla has a $$$ cult following, and Musk can do no wrong. Giant pyramid scheme on the part of major stockholders, if you ask me. Yes, I think Tesla will fail, too. [Reply]

Ford's SUV is not anywhere close to being the value proposition that a Model Y is right now. Wait until the base model y is unleashed. And the cyber truck. Don't forget in Sept, they have a major battery announcement. Did I mention they have the best charging tech and network in America? Auto makers are almost a decade behind Tesla in tech right now. They are appropriately valued until the market at large can compete. [Reply]
So I bought some NIO last year. For most of the time I've had it, it had stayed well below where I bought it (60% loss).
I sold it recently when it got to my break even level in the $5 range because I thought it would sink again. Boy was I wrong. It's closing in on $15/share today.
There’s no way we don’t see a big downturn in the next year.
Timing that is hard though so I’m taking chunks of profit in my brokerage account as we work back through this “recovery.” I’ll follow with stop losses as we move higher too. [Reply]
