In the opening on the wall when Cretan Stark is telling Prince Jacaerys about the time his father brought King Jarhaerys and Queen Alysanne to the wall and they watched as their dragons would not fly past it?
That was a nice little slap in the face to the late seasons of GoT. And I loved it.

Because Daenerys took her dragons North of the Wall in season 7 to rescue the Westerosi Avengers.
I believe he’s suggesting that her dragons should have refused to fly North of the Wall but B&B just didn’t give a shit enough to stick to the established lore. [Reply]
They flew a dragon across the wall in GoT, it even got taken down by the Night King’s forces and turned into an ice zombie dragon.

In the book it says aegon the conqueror flew his dragons to the wall but they refused to go father. [Reply]

There’s one very intriguing monkey wrench that the tv show’s course of events for Blood and Cheese throws into play that the books did not.

Otto had just told Cole to return to his post which is guarding the Royal Family and instead he was bangin Alicent. I’m definitely interested to see how this is going to play out. Will Otto find out and collab with Alicent to protect Cole? I assume the Queen will squeal, but if she follows the book route and goes off the deep end, no one will believe her. Can’t wait. For once, maybe not following the source material will be for the better.

Keep in mind that "the source material" on this one is a book that was written as a historical treatise by a Maester. So there are not first-hand viewpoints.

After watching S2E1 it was clear that I needed to go back and rewatch S1
Not sure if I was still suffering GoT fatigue/hangover or if I was watching something else that was more captivating to me, but man, I'm consuming S1 with much more engagement this time around
There's some necessary gaps, but the amount of ground they covered, while still keeping it high quality is much more impressive than I remember and likely gave it credit for
So glad I went back to binge S1, its an incredible season. Feel like I'm much more ready and excited for S2 now [Reply]
