some of the 'who's running with the ones' stuff is important and some is not.
Smith running with the ones at RG is significant. It means they're looking at him to see if he can handle it, and that it's his spot to lose.
Hughes running with the ones is get a good look at him, see if they can coach him up, and see what he's got. Him splitting time with Baker is comparison.
Niemann is running with the ones because he knows the defense and can make the calls. The only way he stays there is if Bolton or Gay disappoints or it's just too early in the season to depend on them to be able to do that. 90% of the game is 50% mental, you know.
I'm a little surprised that Niang is taking 2nd team snaps at LT. I guess they've decided that Humphrey and Smith are the rookies they'll start and Niang is your swing tackle. I still bet he ends up starting at RT by the end of the year. [Reply]

Nobody said he was going to for sure be the day 1 starter in TC.
It might take most of camp, it might take a few weeks into the season, it might take a year.
After watching last night's "The Franchise" and considering some of the things ive read throughout the offseason, i think the only way Niang takes Remmers' job is in case of injury.
It really sounds like Remmers has taken on the leadership/Vet role on the Oline. It's going to be hard to unseat him.
My money is Niang will be the swing tackle this year and will only start in the event of injury. [Reply]
