Anyway, let's say it is the easiest for the sake of argument, that's no reason not to do it or to feel going about doing it. Maybe it's the first step on a bigger journey.

As for me, my philosophy on work is the same as it is with relationships. Sometimes you have to acquiesce to reality. I'm not going to find any new passion at this point in my life. In no small part because I'm not a passionate person. I'm just not. I'm about as apathetic as you can be and while still having a heart beat. Beyond that, I made (or didn't make) decisions in my 20s that set the course for the rest of my life. That's just the way it is; I don't get to climb into a wayback machine for a do-over. But what I can do is make the best life out of what I have. And that's exactly what I'm doing.
I think that's a silly excuse to just not try, keg. I'm sorry that that's harsh, but it seems like that is such a cop out. There's no reason why your reality can't change...and the passion thing, I am sure it's because you either have not recognized what it is yet or haven't encountered it yet. I refuse to believe that you have to "make the best life out of what you have"....a true optimist would tell you that there's way more there you haven't discovered or you'd be clawing your way out of the mundane to get another glimpse of it. Don't let life make you succumb to mediocrity.

I'd agree with you if I were 15 years younger and knew what I know now. 20 year olds should have blind optimism; there's opportunity for them everywhere. I'm a long way past that point now, however. I have to navigate the path I put myself on.

I'm not luv, in any case. While I do see myself as a 2 or a 3 on the looks chart, maybe a 4 if the poor old girl left her thick glasses at home, I also realize that doesn't matter a whole lot in the overall scheme of things. I have other qualities.

Just wish I'd realized that when the options were more...palatable. Like I said, if I was 15 years younger and know what I do now. It's just a waste of time at this point.

At least you're honest with yourself.

That's crazy. No one should have to use the phrase, "I get by, no complaints." don't you think you deserve or more importantly, WANT, more out of life then this?

Nah, I'm happy with what I have.

I'm a bit of a strange duck, though. I'm basically Peter Gibbons - my dream in life would be to do nothing. And I don't really need much. Computer for gaming/work/'net, as many books as I can get my hands on, a TV, an MP3 player with audiobooks. Food. Lots of food. Someplace nice to walk/jog outdoors.

That's about it.

You are a complete idiot.

Complete

Idiot

Do you not have any idea how young 35 is? Reverse those two numbers then come talk to me. God! youth is completely wasted on the young...

I'm having more fun in my life right now than ever. Life is wonderful and completely full of joy. Relationships, financial your best days aren't even close to getting here yet

35 is certainly young, but that doesn't change the fact that I don't find the great majority of real world 35-year old women attractive, and it only gets worse the further north the number goes. But hey, maybe I will when I'm 50, assuming I live that long.

To each his own.

Damn dude there are some seriously attractive gals in their 40s. You can get a 30 year old never married and have a family you are in your prime time my friend.

Yes, I'm sure college campuses are just bursting at the seams with 20-year olds looking for guys my age.

Well, okay, if I was in a tax bracket about 1000 times my current one, but let's be realistic here.
