— I believe Patrick Mahomes is the Chiefs' QB1 from what I’ve heard, but Deshaun Watson makes sense as well. They’ll need to trade up for both. If they stay at 27, the one quarterback whom they could shockingly have interest in is Davis Webb of California. They’ve also shown interest in Nathan Peterman and Brad Kaaya, but likely don’t value either as top-two rounders.
Now, the writer of this got all of his info in the article from speaking to FO people and scouts at the combine. You can question the validity, but the Chiefs did meet with all of the players mentioned at the combine.
If this report is accurate, the Chiefs could indeed be on the path to Patrick Mahomes or Deshaun Watson holding up their jersey in 7 weeks in Philadelphia. [Reply]
Alex has got us to the playoffs 3 out of 4 years and got us our first playoff win in how long? Considering how bad we were on offense and the QB position before he got here he's certainly been a decent upgrade and a step in the right direction. No SB or AFCCG so he hasn't done great but certainly not bad.
So they haven't missed on anything. They never claimed he was an elite QB or one of the GOATs. I don't know what some of you guys were expecting.
We can win with this guy until we find someone better so there's nothing to be worried about with the QB position IMO.
As long as those arent our goals, then we are in very good shape for the next several years as a franchise...
And from what we have seen over the decades they arent... [Reply]

15tds and how many interceptions?
7 ... 8?
I just don't see Mahomes being an Andy Reid type guy. At this point in his career, Reid seems to prefer conservative offense and win with defense. He did that in philly for the most part too. [Reply]

This place has always been crazy about Alex Smith. He's not nearly as bad as people around here seem to think.
Nor is he as good as some people around here think...
I think his mid 20's rankings is about where he should be...
Hes nothing great, nor nothing terrible. IF your goal is a superbowl, then you need to replace him. IF your goal is Chiefs, then his is the ultimate QB... [Reply]

I don't think anyone around here thinks he's that good. People just argue that he isn't terrible, which is not acceptable to many.
Alex Smith is a solid game-manager level QB. He needs the team around him to win the game, he is just a piece.
with Alex, the Chiefs have a stock Honda Civic.
nothing wrong with that. Consistent, reliable, comfortable. You might win against other Civics, and Cobalts, but when you get to race the real cars, you don't have a chance.
yes, it could be worse. you could have a Pontiac Aztek at QB. [Reply]

Bad analogy. QB is at most an engine, not the whole car. [Reply]
