For all things Royals in 2022. #3 minor league system according to Baseball America. The Bobby Witt era should begin this year. Will Salvy still be the homerun king? How does the glut of infield players work out? Will the young pitchers take the next step?

Some guys like Alex Gordon has a high bapip their entire career cuz they hit alot of line guys.
Alex Gordon had a career .309 BABIP...

Drew Waters has a .421 BABIP for Omaha.

The thing I love about Waters is that, despite the fact that he has had contact concerns, you can SEE how good his hands are. He really has excellent bat control, which gives reason to hope the contact/k concerns can be addressed over time.

There's a reason the guy had a 60 hit grade projection dropped on him at his peak.

What are the chances that we are rolling with Matheny and Eldred next year?

Greater than zero, so too high.

Yes, but with the caveat that the young guys continue to look good and make improvements while we're losing.

Yesterdays game was a good example. Witt was back in form looking good offensively and defensively (at 3B, mind you). Our new call up and future 2B Massey had a couple hits in 3 AB's. Singer actually pitched pretty well (which he has been doing for a while now). He just made one bad pitch to Abreu and it cost him. That stuff happens sometimes.

All in all a great result yesterday. Some of the young guys showing out and another L on Matheny's record, which hopefully will continue so he gets canned by the end of the year.

Vinnie and Salvy both have bapips lower than .240

All of this and mainly just have the bullpen blow it should do the trick.

So looking at starting pitching free agents for next year that could be likely targets:
Sean Manaea
Andrew Heaney
Michael Wacha
Joe Ross
Jake Odorizzi
Mike Clevinger

Royals should have some payroll flexible going into the offseason. If we had Eiland still as pitching coach there would be some others I would look at.

Bringing back Manaea and Odorizzi would be kind of funny.

Andrew Heaney is constantly hurt. Pass on him.

Yeah, but the Royals health team had a huge off-season plan for Mondi and look how well he's do....oh wait. Yeah, nevermind, best to pass on anyone with injury concerns.

I want to see if we can't get syndergaard back to a front of the rotation starter. Assuming Eldred and Co get canned and we bring in premium pitching coaching
