For all things Royals in 2022. #3 minor league system according to Baseball America. The Bobby Witt era should begin this year. Will Salvy still be the homerun king? How does the glut of infield players work out? Will the young pitchers take the next step?

Seems like kind of a weird deadline. Some major moves for sure but some teams I don't get. Cleveland and Chicago did nothing. Not even a few lottery tickets for an extra bullpen arm or bench help? What are they doing? Baltimore was on fire and they were sellers, Boston's been awful and they weren't and actually added Hosmer. Other bottom dwellers like the Pirates and Rockies hardly did anything either, Cubs didn't trade their big pieces. The Brewers are in 1st place and traded their elite closer.

Shit, even tacking those guys on to the trades with the Yankees and Blue Jays would have worked.

But they’re probably convinced they’re close to winning next year.
Yep. Some are critical of the AB trade, but I thought those trio of pitchers was fine. The lefty appears he may have a high ceiling if his arm problems are a one-off.

Seems like that’s the window they are shooting for. If Singer and Lynch hold up, Bubic run isn’t smoke and mirrors, and milk one last run out of Greinke maybe.

That’s a lot of hoping plus they need Waters to pan out, find a 3B or SS, and another SP. It’s a mess really and I’ve been really happy with the moves that have been made starting with Waters.

Massey just got pulled out of the Omaha lineup. Guessing we'll see him tomorrow.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's Pratto/Massey/Lopez/Witt to start. Lot of question marks though. Not sure where Dozier goes. Melendez probably spends some time in RF. It looks like Samad Taylor that they just got has played a lot of 2B/LF and he's already in AAA.

And I think we could see Nick Loftin sometime in the second half of next year like we are with Massey now. Not sure if that equates to a winner though but there are a lot of potential guys in the mix.

That’s a team I can at least enjoy watching through the growing pains.

Whatever you think of the moves, the Royals made several transactions this year. They might have been one of the most active sellers if I'm remembering right. Not sure how anyone can be disappointed or accuse JJ of being complacent. Moved Santana, the comp pick, Benintendi, Rivera, Merrifield and Gallagher. That's quite a bit of action, guys.

Wondering now that they moved Rivera if their plan is to do this with the IF
3B - Bobby Witt Jr
SS - Nicky Lopez
2B - Michael Massey
1B - Nick Pratto

The next few days should be fun to see what the Royals really want to accomplish for this year. Who they keep on the roster, who they DFA and who they option to Omaha will say a lot. I'm looking at you, O'Hearn.

Lopez should have been the SS from minute one, this year. Watch Nikki return to 2021 form at the plate. I'm convinced he's most comfortable at SS. Witt Jr. was actually really good at 3B. I'd like him to stay there the rest of the year.
