Why isn’t it a balk when Gausman does that rocking thing and doesn’t pause? Sometimes he pauses, sometimes he lifts his left leg directly after a bounce with -0- pause. [Reply]

Good catch. It is a balk and sometimes (rarely) umpires do call it on him. Most of the time they do not, though. [Reply]

Can't remember his name or even his team... But there's some pitcher in the league that basically jumps a good foot off the rubber as he delivers the ball. How is that not a balk every time there's a runner aboard? [Reply]

There are a few pitchers you could argue in baseball who balk every single time, which is probably why they're able to get away with it. [Reply]
